Anthony Rocco DiGrazia’s grandmother was Slovene, but her new sisters-in-law made damn sure she could cook the Sicilian family recipes when she married in. “Rocco” learned the recipe by heart by the time he was ten. He serves five gallons of this sauce every day at his famous restaurant, Rocco’s Little Chicago.

I wrote a cookbook based on the movie Elf, and there is a famous scene in that movie where Buddy has a spaghetti dinner with his new biological family.

This seemed like the perfect opportunity to share Rocco’s family spaghetti recipe with the rest of the world, so I asked Rocco if I could reprint it in The Unofficial Elf Cookbook, and he graciously agreed.

Here is the original recipe straight from Rocco’s grandmother along with my photograph from the cookbook, which happily ended up winning several photography awards. Thank you, Rocco!

These loaded hot dogs were inspired by Santa’s sleigh, powered by the mighty Kringle 3000 engine that Santa relies on for his epic trek across the globe in the movie “Elf”.
