🌼 🌸 Our native wildflower packets are SO AWESOME this year! We curated 3 different blends to cater directly to the pollinators. πŸ‘ You asked for more blends, we listened!!

🌟 Calendula Hive Shield - Filled with resin producing calendula varieties that help build that colony immunity! 🐝

🌟 Nectar Guild - Abundance of vibrantly colored and textured native wildflowers that are full of nectar and pollen!

🌟 Pollinator Anchors - Long lived, deep rooted perennials that provide reliable nectar, structure, and stability for pollinators!

Yes! We will have these available on our website AND at the and this year! πŸ‘

It's not too late to get these babies into the soil, but if you purchase them this summer, keep them safe until fall in a cool, dark place. 😎 Then, have a blast scattering them before the blanket of winter hits. ❄️

🌸 Not all early blooms are good for honey bees! 🐝

It’s a common misconception that any plant flowering in early spring automatically supports pollinators - but that’s not always true. Some of the earliest garden favorites are actually poor or even useless nectar and pollen sources for honey bees.

A few examples include:
β€’ Daffodils – attractive, but produce little to no usable nectar or pollen for bees
β€’ Double-flowered ornamentals – often bred for looks, not pollinator function, making nectar/pollen inaccessible
β€’ Sterile hybrid varieties (like some ornamental cherry cultivars) – may bloom heavily but offer minimal forage value
β€’ Heather look-alikes or heavily cultivated varieties – can be misleading; not all provide real forage
β€’ Early bulb mixes marketed as β€œpollinator friendly” – many are selected for aesthetics, not bee nutrition

In early spring, honey bees are building strength after winter. They need reliable protein-rich pollen and accessible nectar, not just pretty blooms.

Better early-season choices include willows, maples, crocus (true single varieties), and Oregon grapeβ€”plants that actually feed the hive when it matters most.

At Silverlode Gardens, we believe choosing the right early bloomers can make a real difference for pollinator health. 🐝 πŸ¦‹

🌱 Plant with intention. Support the pollinators when it matters most.

Something new is taking shape here at Silverlode Gardens, and our sister company ✨️

This spring, we are stepping into a new name and a new chapter.. one that reflects how much we’ve grown, and where we come from.

Our rebrand honors our Scandinavian heritage and the deep roots of where we call home here in Stanwood β€” a community shaped by land, water, community, and unconditional care. It reflects the traditions that inspire us, from folk art and storytelling to stewardship and connection with the natural world.

Most importantly, this transition carries the influence of the mentors, colleagues, fellow beekeepers and farmers who have shared their knowledge so generously. Everything we are building stands on the foundation of what we’ve learned from you. Your guidance, encouragement, and friendship have shaped this path in ways we will always carry forward.

This new name is not a departure, it is a truer reflection of who we have become.

We can’t wait to share more with you soon. Thank you for being part of this journey. 🀍

Have you been out in your garden lately? Go see who has woken up already! You may be surprised. 😊

✨️ Glass Quest mania is so much fun!! I am out making deliveries today and, WOW. I love this community so much! Seeing so many businesses engaged is a wonderful sight, and seeing so many locals and out of towners searching warms my small town heart even more. πŸ’“

What a beautiful evening! ❀️ I spent a lot of time just hanging out in the seed field apiary today.

What an unusual day to have nearly 60Β°F! So many little winter sown seeds slowly raising their sleepy sprout heads above the soggy ground. Say that 10 times fast. πŸ˜†

Looking forward to more of these days.. 😊
