Heptacodiums, known by some as the crapemyrtle of the north (others might call crapemyrtles the heptacodiums of the south), come highly recommended not only for their beauty, but also for their cold hardiness. This fuss-free flowering tree isn't picky about soil, and doesn't ask for more than a healthy dose of sun every day. They're currently reaching the end of their bloom period, which is marked by an additional display of red bracts once the blooms are spent.

Amaryllis fans, start your bulbs! Amaryllis bulbs take 6-8 weeks to flower, meaning you could have them blooming in time for Christmas if you plant them now. If even that's too long of a wait for you, you could always force your bulbs, or check out our new Peruvian varieties that bloom within 5-6 weeks!
