When we first launched NeeCee Lou’s Deli during Ethnic Fest, you guys absolutely LOVED our pastrami!

In fact, you sold us out of it SO FAST! 🤯

Unfortunately, shortly afterward, our suppliers ran into shortages, and getting our hands on pastrami again became quite the challenge.

But we weren’t giving up!

We’ve spent weeks searching, making phone calls, and working hard to find a quality pastrami product that we’d be proud to serve our customers.

And we’re SO excited to announce…

Sorry for the scheduling changes this week. I woke up sick yesterday and it’s not any better today… actually worse 😕
We have WAY TO BIG of a weekend this weekend for me to be sick so I’m trying really hard to get myself better and kick this wicked migraine before then!
I’m hopeful Bailey will be able to open at 11 am .. this is not a normal work day for her so I’m waiting to see if she is available to cover me. 🤞🤞🤞
I will update here is she is NOT able to open today. Please send all the good vibes this cold and migraine disappear asap cuz man this is the wrong week for this 😢

As a kid I remember the hunted house that they did at least once in this space! My family wanted to go and I went but backed out and just waited for my family at the end cuz hunted houses where not my things then and still are not now 😂 any one else remember that?

Lakeshore Mall was the hometown gathering spot for Manitowoc and Two Rivers. It began in 1979 as Edgewater Plaza, a 200,000 square foot shopping center on the west side of Manitowoc. In an area where the nearest big mall used to be an hour away, having one at home felt like winning something.

Its first anchors included Prange's, which many locals still remember as Prange Way. The hallways filled up with small stores, and more kept arriving through the eighties. Families walked the long corridors on Saturdays, and teenagers took the loop just to see who else showed up. By 1990, the mall was doing well enough to add shops like Diane's Hallmark and a few more storefronts.

Readers who grew up there remember small things. The photo booth that took four silly pictures for a couple of dollars. The arcade near the corner. The smell of a pretzel on the way to buy new school shoes. At Christmastime, the stores and hallways turned into a glowing winter village, and shoppers carried bags past tinsel and twinkle lights. One longtime resident said that moving to a town with a mall was a big deal.

Life around the mall slowly changed. The neighboring Mid-Cities Mall, which had opened back in 1968, faded and was torn down in 2015. Edgewater Plaza took the name Lakeshore Mall in the late 2000s, but the crowds kept shrinking as shopping habits moved online and to larger centers. By 2016, the hallways were nearly empty, and the anchors left one by one. Younkers closed its doors in 2018.

The next chapter came with a plan. The city agreed to buy the site in 2024, and crews began demolition that August. Officials announced plans for new homes, apartments, and shops where the mall once stood. A parking lot that held thousands of cars on Christmas Eve will welcome a new generation of neighbors.

That is the way many Wisconsin towns say goodbye to their malls, with a little laughter and a lot of memories. The building is gone, but the stories stay. Somebody still remembers a first job at the food court, a first date at the movie counter, and a Santa photo with a cousin who refused to smile. For a lot of Manitowoc families, Lakeshore Mall was never just a mall. It was where the whole community met on a cold Saturday and everybody knew a name.

Spent some time cutting stickers out for the trick-or-treat at the upcoming vendor fair, because candy and stickers go perfect together 🤗
