Gravity Sketch is a cool little bit of software. You can load up your models (or start from scratch) in VR, look at them in 3d space, rotate them (or make them huge and walk around them!) and reach out your hands to sculpt somewhat intuitively and organically.

Used it to turn my porcini mushroom model into a morel!

Not everything has to be 100% 3d printed. Nice shoe rack, made out of an 8' board cut in half, stained, and held up with stacking 3d printed stands
