Resting Twitch Lights "A lite vacuum, please"
I was requested to craft a lamp that would be fun, practical and in theme with the cleaning service industry. It will be given as a gift of appreciation to the founder of a local NB Cleaning nonprofit. Without hesitation this wonderful nonprofit steps in to assist individuals and families who are having a difficult time maintaining their home due to serious injury or hospice status.
I was able to utilize the original vacuum power switch to now control the light inset into the brush attachment. Then mounted on a stained cedar corbel to provide elevation for the lamp.
The majority of components I use in crafting lamps come from estate sales and thrift stores. Shopping online gives access to a wide assortment of bulbs, switches and wiring to bring light to what would otherwise be a fun sculpture.
In this example I know exactly where the wood, vacuum and brush attachment came from. The owners of whom all happen to be friends with the individual who ordered the lamp. Thanks to y'all for helping me acquire pieces to bring dreams to light.

Resting Twitch Lights "Musical Enlightenment" A collection of lamps I designed and crafted for three individuals who truly helped shape my appreciation and participation in choir and band. In my elementary years Mrs. Candy Johnson provided a foundation to appreciate listening. Musicians like: Simon and Garfunkel, ABBA, Peter Paul & Mary. Alongside her own piano playing and choral leadership.
Middle School found me learning how to play an old, well used trumpet under the tutelage of Mr. Michael Rosbarsky. Our concerts weren't up to Carnegie Hall standards. His goal was to impart a strong foundation of how to play and to enjoy doing so.
High School was another notch up where I was provided a brand new silver tone double French Horn. Mr. Gary Gillett was and is a phenomenal musician who continued to impart a love for music into his students. And, if you were unsure exactly how a part was supposed to sound. He would pick up his trombone and blow the part at you without missing a beat or transposition.
The mini grand piano has lights inset under the sounding board to shine through onto a stage. The vintage candy jar is filled with realistic miniature candy and mounted on a piece of Texas Mesquite.
The clarinet can function as a fun nightlight with its flickering bulb. And a built in music holder to display a favorite picture or that note you can't afford to forget.
The final lamp utilizes French Horn rotary valves mounted on mesquite.

Thank you to all for your instruction, inspiration and friendship.

Resting Twitch Lights "Beehive Jazz: Trumpet Edition" Bespoke build for the daughter of a friend. While mom is into UFO's her daughter prefers the trumpet to keep her jazzed. The trumpet is displayed on an angled mount above a ruby red beehive base. Topped off with a blue Parisian shade: utilizing the center valve top for the finial. Three red indicator lights are inset into the top of the beehive. Controlled via the silver push switch. The main light is on a dimmer switch built into the base.

Resting Twitch Lights "Mālamalama o ka ʻUkulele" is a custom craft requested by a friend and former coworker. Who also happens to be Hawaiian. She acquired the shade and table with the intent of displaying some of her crystal collection on the table. She came to me with a request to turn the table and shade into a functional side table lamp.
You can see the bamboo growing up from an ornate brass tree ring and through the ukulele someone left lying in the field. Sprouting from the top of the bamboo is a brass frond supporting an intricately cut out forest canopy lamp shade. The now electrified ukulele sports two control k***s. One of which is used to control the built in dimmer switch hidden inside of the instrument.

As seen in one of the attached pictures Captain Morgan decided he needed to do a close inspection of the project before signing off on it. Allowing final assembly and wiring.

Resting Twitch Lights "Black Beehive Jazz: Trombone Ed." Tenor trombone vertically mounted on a vintage Osterizer Beehive blender. The light is controlled via a dimmer k**b that replaced the original power switch. A wrapped handguard was added to reinforce the cross brace. The slide can still be removed for transport.

Great display piece for a trombone player!

As can be seen in the pictures it was a process to transform the trombone from a non-functional instrument to a bespoke statement lamp.

Resting Twitch Lights "Smokey's Lamp" after a career working for The Bear to protect and maintain Montana's forests their roles have changed. Now, Smokey hangs out on a bedside table and provides soft, warm light to read by.
Smokey is seen standing on a scrap piece of live edge with his back against a section of fly-fishing pole. That in turn supports the lamp and patchwork amber shade.

Resting Twitch Lights "BOHO is Pretty in Pink"
A bespoke floor lamp with clear display pedestals. Designed to add some BOHO Chic lighting in a room transformation for a deserving Texas teen.
The lamp stands just over six feet tall with a stained wood base and round marble surface. The dusty rose coloured lamp shade provides a dynamic lighting accent when the four dimmable chandelier bulbs are switched on. Five clear stands form a double ascending staircase. Perfect to show off treasured mementos, awards, or tiaras as they float over the table. Due to its height and the fragile nature of the display stands the center pole is able to unscrew into two sections for transport.
Various stages of the lamps crafting can be seen in the attached pictures.

Resting Twitch Lights "Phone, for Edison" This was a special request from a friend to "functionalize" a family heirloom belonging to his daughter-in-law. The phone came from her grandmother. For decades it was the phone used in her grandmother's house. While she treasures the phone for its family connection she doesn't have wall space for it as just "art". By thinking outside of Bell's design it was possible to upgrade the phone to functional art that honors her grandmother's legacy and memory.
Due to the size of the handset and mouthpiece I utilized chandelier sockets. The mouthpiece is on a dimmer switch controlled by the original crank handle. While the handset is a simple on/off switch. The bar light below the writing shelf is controlled by the black on/off flip switch drilled under the cabinet to hide it.
In order to maintain the patina all other equipment remains in original, pre-lamp condition. With the exception of widening the ear end of the handset to allow greater light and access to change the bulb. I used an old flashlight reflector in the handset to enhance and focus the light.
(Took roughly nine hours to design, fabricate, assemble and wire the new lamp lights.)
