Let’s talk textiles and color!

A little contrast goes a long way!

One of my favorite rules from Bridget Beari Color Rules is to add a pop of a contrasting color to a room to create interest and that all important WOW factor.

Take a look at this powder room I designed. The soft sage green with its delicate white pattern creates a calming sophisticated backdrop, but it’s the unexpected pop of terracotta in the vessel sink that really brings the room to life!

That warm earthy contrast against the cool green adds just the right amount of excitement without overwhelming the space.

The secret? You don’t need a lot of contrasting color to make a big impact. Sometimes one perfectly placed element is all it takes to turn a pretty room into a memorable one.

That’s the magic of understanding color and knowing when to introduce a little surprise!

Dark and Dreamy! Who says dark colors can’t be calming?

When it comes to creating a relaxing bedroom, don’t be afraid to embrace the dark side!

In this bedroom, we used the dramatic black geometric wallpaper from Phillip Jeffries as the backdrop, layering in soft shades of blue, textured fabrics, warm wood tones, and beautiful artwork to create. Space that feels both sophisticated and serene.

The secret is balance! By mixing darker walls with lighter bedding, natural textures and thoughtful lighting, you can create a room that feels restful rather than heavy. Choosing the right color isn’t always about going lighter or brighter. It’s about understanding how color makes you feel.

What a fun day at the Washington DC Fall Market. I spoke at Schumacher about my new book Bridget Beari Color Rules. Saw old friends, made some new friends and signed lots of books. Thanks to everyone who came out and thanks to Schumacher Mid-Atlantic Region for hosting. It was a lovely day.
