This India buying trip continues to deliver wonderful finds. Very excited about old doors, great carved sideboards, vintage chests, benches made with antique bed parts, inlay, painted trunks - sooo many things. Can’t wait for these containers to start rolling in this fall and winter!

The fun of sourcing in India is interspersing the finds that we can actually bring home to you and the downright jaw dropping, palace/museum/movie set worthy things we see here everyday. It’s truly insane what kind of wild and wonderful things become normalized in a day of visiting wholesale dealers here. Take a swing through these images and see some of the lovely things coming home - and videos of the showrooms we get to visit. Twenty foot hand carved doors, 200 year old teak pavilions, ceiling panels made for castles. It’s madness in the most inspiring way. But yes - things coming to TDL - bone inlay desks of many types, lovely stone and wood vessels, old painted panels, extra long double decker glass cabinets, big wood horses, old doors and more. It’s going to be a great collection in the next containers!

And so it begins - sourcing trips in India are endless possibilities, craftspeople with the skill of magicians, and beloved vendors with museum worthy collections. One must somehow stay steadfast with reality when confronted daily with unbelievable arrays of enchanting choices. It’s near impossible to stay on track! The first two days of finding goods for our next containers has been rewarding most certainly - but we always dream of what if - and why not - and couldn’t we? With every beautiful turn there is more to see and imagine… ahhh. Well, morning today was spent in one of our favorite yards of antiques - old doors, gates, carvings and pots to add to our piles. Always an amazing day!

Staying in a fairy tale of a hotel after a 36 hour journey makes every moment of it slip away quite quickly. This is a pinch-me property - that we get to call this modern sandstone and ancient haveli amalgam home for a few days each year is still astonishing to us. Raas Jodhpur, tucked into the Old City of Jodhpur is the perfect example of old and new - helping to revitalize the heart of the city for tourism and bring an international spotlight to its beauty. Of course it was Elizabeth Hewitt who first learned of it back in 2009 when it opened. Always the knower of all things jaw dropping and authentic, she shared it with us. Since then it’s been written up in every travel journal and won countless awards - each well deserved. Some of these photos are older - local kids are not allowed to dive into the stepwell any longer, alas. But the magic of this place is undiminished after all these years. Walking through the architect’s genius version of a slot canyon front entry with its compression/release hall with Mehrangarh Fort towering above never ceases to quicken the pulse and force a gasp. Work starts in our antique dealers and warehouses tomorrow and we are so excited to see what we find for TDL. But the inspiration always starts here in the shadow of this 15th century fort and what’s become our favorite hotel in the world. Thankful for places that feel like home so far away - and the warm welcome we always get here. 🙏 RAAS Hotels

Our towering daybeds made from antique architectural salvage found in Rajasthan, India are absolute stunners. Dressed up in neutrals with nubby, textural details they can become serene destinations out on the patio or in a dramatic space inside. Never not a focal point - but this version of styling makes these more of a serene escape - but regardless they are always the place that guests are drawn to. Lounging with a book solo or gathering as a group for drinks - they’re always the center of attention and photo ready!

Pretty little moments walking around TDL in the blessed air conditioning. Brave the heat and come see - so many magic things in right now. Love all the blooms and greenery and textural layers. From terracotta tigers to Moroccan ceramics, organic root consoles to dramatic lanterns - so many fun things to distract us from endless summer.

Feeling very nostalgic for the weather in these images. This is Linda’s home - our intrepid founder - right before one of the multiple Phoenix Home and Garden tours she’s been on. Doors open - soft sun shining - blue skies you actually want to be out it. Ahhhh. We will get there AZ. Truly! But I love looking at this loveliness with so many fun TDL treasures scattered about. Moroccan pots and zellige tables, Indian sideboards with cast iron jali, Indonesian daybed benches. It’s a family haven - at least when the weather cooperates! Can’t wait for fall!!

This serene bedroom is styled with a vintage Moroccan blanket, an antique Hungarian dowry chest, and a huge teak wall from Java as a backdrop behind the four poster bed. Creams and rust and olive green give a mellow vibe and let the more vivid colors of the antique hope chest to shine. We love an interesting, layer bed that tells a story.

Sending you a few more is more moments this Sunday afternoon. Some rooms - especially these at home in the upstairs of our 1930s home that have lower ceilings - truly look larger and more welcoming when truly drenched in color. We tried so many different looks in this playroom and office - but once we really went all in with brilliant saturated color, they really came alive. In the third slide the vintage chair we found in Istanbul is covered in a favorite Malika Ikats ikat. Love it so!

Delicious layers of saturated, color drenched textiles make for an unforgettable bed. This beauty is draped in some of our all time TDL favorites - a vintage suzani, terracotta hand cut and sewn appliqué with embroidered details and tiny sh**ha mirrors, Turkish kilim pillows with a big Moroccan sabra lumbar. All so fun together! Bedside are two of our large scale three drawer dressers and towering iron mirrors with pretty brass toned lamps. Standing tall behind the bed is a pair of riad doors from Marrakech. Seed pods and an antique dog sculpture from Kalimantan rest on a rattan tray from Lombok. We love to make magical beds for you all. Come play textiles with us!
