This desk rolled (couldn't resist the pun) into my shop for some repairs and a refinish. It will be finished tomorrow so stay tuned for the final finished pictures. Here are the pictures of the "before" and some of the steps I went through to get it back to it's full glory.

Finished a desk today. It's special to me because it was made from a slab of Walnut my grandfather was keeping in his basement woodshop for just the "right project". I like to think he approves. He was my mentor, a great man and one of my best friends. Looking forward to putting this in my office.

I haven't posted in awhile but after a thoroughly satisfying round of hand planing, I thought it fitting. There is nothing quite like the feeling of satisfaction of creating something simple using a basic hand plane. I needed to match a profile to replace a drip cap for some exterior trim. I could have used a router, sure, but this just seemed easier and much more rewarding. If you've ever considered getting into wood working as a hobby and haven't, I highly recommend it and am always happy to discuss.
