Dark hardwood in the kitchen is a commitment. Here’s how to know if it’s the right one for you. 🪵
This kitchen makes a strong case for it. The deep, warm wood tones against walnut cabinetry and white marble create a richness you simply can’t get with a lighter floor.
A few things to keep in mind before you go dark:
🌟 Finish matters most. A wire-brushed or matte finish hides everyday scuffs and dust far better than a high-gloss dark floor.
🧹 Maintenance is real. Dark floors show pet hair, dust, and footprints more readily. Daily sweeping becomes part of the routine.
☀️ Lighting is everything. Dark floors in a naturally bright kitchen feel grounded and dramatic. In a darker kitchen, they can feel heavy.
🏡 Long-term value. Deep wood tones have staying power. They don’t read as trendy the way some lighter colorways can.
