Picked up some local corn! 🌽

Just shucked a dozen ears, which I’ll boil then freeze the kernels. And my plan is to use the cobs to make a corn cob jelly!

We just wrapped up our county fair!

I entered some jams (straw-rhubarb, blueberry basil, nectarine), rhubarb Bbq sauce, salsa, and vanilla extract. Brought home some ribbons for the jams and salsa, and a blue for the vanilla!

Already pondering some canning projects to keep our shelves full, and avoid the grocery store as much as possible. But I’m also ready to challenge myself and see how some new recipes do at the fair next year. 🫙

The plan for the rest of summer is to work on putting up more pickles, green beans, corn, and various tomato sauces. 😅

One project at a time, the shelves will be restocked by winter. 🫶🏻

Also I LOVE goats, and had to some cute little Saanen kids! 🐐

With all of the chaos in the nation regarding produce right now, I figured it’s a good time to share a good reminder. All produce whether it’s home grown or purchased at a farmers market, needs to be washed! 🥦🥬🫛🥒🍅🫑🥕🥔

I am a huge fan of Thieves fruit & veggie soak in our house. It gets the produce really clean without any added junk or toxins & infused with some powerful essential oils to help kill anything that shouldn’t be crawling around, and it helps support wellness. 🌱 (I have a link for this product 🔗)

If you’re looking for a simple DIY you can also do roughly 1/4 cup of baking soda sprinkled over the produce in a bowl, and pour a cup of white vinegar on top. Let it sit for 15-30 minutes, and rinse! Should be clean and ready to eat! 😋
