Hi everyone, this is Eric. Sorry for not updating about my mom. She is doing very well. Still having issues walking. Last weekend I brought her home and we had a BBQ. She's been craving sweet corn. So I bought some at at a local produce store. She can't come home until she can walk. The in home care system just doesn't give enough hours for her to come home yet. Not enough for me to be gone for work. No local nursing homes will allow me to move her closer because do not accept Medi-Cal for payment. It's really been frustrating dealing with getting care for her. I've applied for additional financial help so she doesn't have to use 99% of her SS to make up the difference for the nursing that Medi-Cal won't pay. I can't believe how the government treats the elderly. Grrr. Last week I gave her smart phone back to her and so far it's been a success for her to answer and call me. The flip phone she had was difficult for her to see and understand how to use. Hopefully she will be able to get on Facebook soon. She wants to try. I'm just nervous about someone stealing her tablet.

Hi everyone,

sorry about the lack of updates on my mom!
She was approved for MediCal today FINALLY! This was a nightmare trying to get this approved. After the hospital failed to initiate the approval process. Then the nursing home screwing it up. I was talking to a friend about this issue, and she told me that a mutual friend is the director of social services in our county. I had no idea that social services took care of this. I thought it was welfare. UGH! anyway after the nursing home screwing around for almost 2 months. I had my friend refer me to someone in our county as my mom is in a nursing home in the next county. It took this person a month to get it approved and this is with the nursing home delaying the admittance paperwork that was needed for the approval!

Hopefully mom can be home by her birthday which is nest month on the 15th.

Hi everyone, this is my mom Jeannie's page. I'm Eric her son. I just wanted to let you know that my mom had some health issues at the beginning of the year. She had a ruptured aneurysm. Then in recovery she had a stroke. She is currently in a rehab in a skilled nursing facility. She has come a long way in her recovery. Still has a long way to go. She needs to get stronger so she can walk again. Hopefully she can come home soon. She has shown me that you never give up. Even though she has wanted to, she has kept going and getting stronger and stronger.
