Hot take: your bedroom deserves way more attention than it’s getting.

Most of us pour all of our design energy into the kitchen, the living room, the spaces guests actually see (then treat the bedroom like an afterthought).

But this is the room you start AND end your day in.
It should feel just as good as the rest of your home, if not better.

The good news? You don’t need a full renovation to fix it. A few intentional pieces can completely shift the way the room feels - layered bedding, a nightstand that fits the scale, lighting that glows, a rug that grounds the space.

I just dropped The Bedroom collection on my LTK 🖤
Everything I’d actually use to give your bedroom the upgrade it deserves.

Cabinet hardware is one of the most overlooked design decisions and also one of the most impactful. K***s and pulls are the details your hands touch every single day, and they have the power to elevate or completely flatten a space.

A few reasons hardware matters more than people realize:

+ It sets the tone of the entire room
The right hardware tells you whether a kitchen is traditional, transitional, modern, or something in between. Builder grade hardware reads as builder grade, no matter how beautiful the cabinetry is.

+ It adds character and warmth
Unlacquered brass, antique bronze, polished nickel, blackened iron . . . each finish brings its own personality. Quality hardware introduces texture, contrast, and patina that flat finishes can’t replicate.

+ It’s a high-touch, daily-use detail
You interact with these pieces dozens of times a day. Investing in solid, well-made hardware is one of the most worthwhile splurges in any renovation.

+ It mixes beautifully across metals
Layering finishes (like brass with polished nickel or aged bronze with iron) is one of the easiest ways to add depth and intention. Matchy-matchy hardware throughout an entire home reads dated.

+ Scale and proportion matter
A pull that’s too small on an oversized drawer or a k**b that’s too dainty on a substantial cabinet throws off the entire visual balance of a room.

+ Mixing k**bs and pulls is intentional
We almost always use k**bs on doors and pulls on drawers. It’s a small detail, but it makes a kitchen feel custom, not catalog.

The best part? Hardware is one of the easiest upgrades you can make without a full renovation.
Swap out builder grade for something with weight, finish, and character, and watch your space transform.

Save this for your next refresh.

It’s been a fun-filled couple of weeks in RRI land, and I’m 100% here for it 🙌🏼

Our beautiful Sydney got married this past weekend, I was able to sneak in a birthday massage, and we have officially entered summer vacation.

We have TWENTY TWO open projects on our books (I mean it when I tell you guys I’m busy), and there’s been a ton of progress that I can’t wait to show you!

I hope you guys have the best week 🫶🏼

I also let strange men enter your home to tear down your walls 😉

Sounds wild when you put it like that. But after 14 years of doing this . . . yeah, this is the job. Welcome to interior design. 😂

Some people need a vacation. I need a project.

It is officially shaping up to be such a full, exciting month around here. RRI is celebrating 14 years in business (still can’t believe it 🥹), Sydney (my senior designer) is getting married, and I’m turning 40. It feels like everything is happening at once in the best possible way.

Projects are coming along beautifully, the team is heads down doing some of my favorite work yet, and I am genuinely so ready to soak up all of summer! Late dinners, slower mornings, time with my family, and of course, more designing.

ICYMI, I wrote a post on Substack reflecting on 14 years of RRI and how far we’ve come. Go give it a read if you’ve been with us for any part of this journey 🫶🏼

This is why we do what we do. Every decision, every late night sourcing, every “let’s pull one more option” . . . it all leads to this moment. The reveal. The walkthrough. The exhale.

The truth about working with a designer is that the process can feel like a lot. There are choices to make, timelines to manage, opinions to align, and a vision to trust along the way. But on the other side of all of that is a home that’s truly yours. A space designed for the way you live, the people you love, and the life you want to come home to every single day.

It’s never just about the finishes or the furniture. It’s about creating a place that feels good to walk into. Every. Single. Time.

If you’ve been thinking about starting a project, this is your sign. The work is worth it. The vision is worth it. And the home you’re going to come home to at the end of it? More than worth it.

There’s been a lot of conversation lately about 90s moms and how they seemed to have it figured out when it came to their homes.

You only knew what someone’s house looked like if you *actually* went over to their house. There was no scroll, no Reel, no Pinterest board telling you that your dining room wasn’t enough. People built homes for the way they wanted to live . . . not the way they wanted to be perceived.

I think about this a lot in my work. The most beautiful homes I’ve ever designed are the ones built around real lives: kids, dogs, husbands, late dinners, slow mornings, messy weekends, all of it. Not the version of life that photographs well. The actual version.

Don’t get me wrong, I will ALWAYS be the first one to gush over a beautifully designed home. That’s literally what I do, and finding inspiration in other people’s spaces is part of the joy of this industry. There’s a difference between being inspired by something and feeling like your home isn’t enough because of it.

If you’re stuck in a “compare and despair” loop scrolling through other people’s homes, this is your reminder to log off, look around, and design for the people who actually live there.

Have you ever felt like you’re comparing your home when you scroll? Let me know in this poll below 🫶🏼
