My name is Sativa Jaeger, I am currently a student at the Art Institute of Portland studying Interior Design- with a particular interest in hospitality and multi-family living facility design. My interest in interior design started while spending days after school with my grandmother, she always wished she could have used design as a career path but she never felt that the timing was right- she ne
ver took the leap and believed in her potential. My grandmother instilled in me inspiration and passion for the profession, while my mother instilled determination and encouraged me to pursue a life that I would love. Interior Design is just that, and I decided early on that regardless of what was happening I would take every opportunity that was presented, to live a life filled with a love for design. In 2010, I decided to pursue a program called " Running Start" this program aloud high school students to challenge themselves by working towards an associates degree starting their Junior year. Through this program I was able to obtain an Associate of Arts Degree in Interior Design which lead to an Internship at a local residential design firm, that I have been working for since April 2012. After completing both my Diploma and Associates in June of 2012 I immediately scheduled my first quarter of classes at the Art Institute of Portland, I knew what I wanted to pursue and the next step involved moving away from home and learning through experience. While in school I am learning the process, the trends and the computer programs that make this profession more effective and than I get to go to work and apply it. Being able to see the design process in action is so encouraging, with each project I get more excited to improve and to learn about new applications.
