Classic fall flower preservation! This commission is representative of fall here in the Pacific Northwest.

The balance of the different flowers and richness of the colors takes your eyes through many layers. With a piece this comprehensive, adding depth was important to keep movement and exploration.

My favorite flower was the cherrywine sunflower! She’s amazing!

I love working on pieces like this. The color correction, the reconstruction, it’s my perfect day. When there is extra complexity, it is always exciting to flex some creative muscle.

Thats what I live for. Challenging the boundaries of what I can do with pressed flowers!

VV Vendor Feature: Vancuterie

"Daphne combines traditional Japanese flower pressing with multiple preservation techniques as part of our modern approach to floral preservation. Several of these techniques are proprietary methods we have developed and refined through years of time, experimentation, and hands on experience.

As a nationally recognized color correction expert and reconstruction artist, I use advanced methods to enhance individual petals, reconstruct flowers by hand, and determine the preservation approach best suited to each flower. Every piece is created as a commissioned work of art, with the client having input as their design evolves.

By combining traditional craftsmanship, proprietary preservation methods, advanced color correction, reconstruction, and collaborative design, Vancuterie continues to push the boundaries of floral preservation and what preserved flowers can become."

Come chat with Daphne on Sunday, November 15th from 4-8p at The Victorian Belle.
She will be a part of the Beetlejuice pod, in the Mansion!

This is by far the most complex commission I’ve ever had to reconstruct, color correct and design.

So many delicate pressed flowers in this piece. Pressed orchids, pressed anthuriums, pressed sweet peas, pressed calla lilies, and pressed dahlias! The list goes on!

The first challenge was trying to recreate the base color of the anthuriums. From there, trying to get the color fade just right. All done with spray paint, a new medium for me. Last, painting the variegations on the anthuriums. This took a beat. They do not come together over night. That’s part of the charm of this pressed flower, it makes you work for it!

Pressed anthuriums are a multi-step process during the color correction phase. It takes 2-3 days to complete. I’m loving learning new techniques. This year we had a very an influx of anthuriums in bouquets. Until they wind up in my design queue, you can catch me out in the garage working on my spray painting skills.

I have a beautiful anthurium in my kitchen that supplies me petals to practice on. Spoiler alert, all anthuriums, when pressed, will turn an ugly shade of brown

I believe I have hit my anthurium era, officially!
