I finished another 2 projects. One is already hanging on the fence. I started on restoring the pieces that were hanging on the fence, that I can set up the solar light that I want to put up on it. Both are metal. The hummingbirds were painted before in similar colors when I bought about 3 1/2 years ago, it just faded very badly. I sure on it only metallic acrylic paints. Eric helped me to polish the plastic, that we can actually can read the numbers again, which was absolutely impossible before. I made the before picture, after I had started already painted the birds, they looked as pale as the flowers did before I started with them For the owl I didn’t want to use to many colors. I just picked a nice brown as the main color, a copper on the beak and the feet and the forest I used a golden bronze. I used a sponge technique, to get the little washed out look on it after the outlining. For the eyes I used a metallic yellow and black, surround with the golden bronze.

I found both of these little doors in the dollar tree store and liked the style, just didn’t care for the colors. So I gave them both a makeover. I used acrylic paints and to finish it up a finial spray gloss coat. I used paint brushes and for the fine details in the first doors, I used a needle to get the golden details in the window.

As promised, a little update on my fairy garden. 🧚‍♀️ I finished repainting several of the sculptures already that will go in my fairy garden, but this fairy was always one of my favorites, since it was the first sculpture I ever painted back in 2021. Since then the colors of her hair and from the mushrooms had faded quite a bit, so she needed some loving attention. She looks adorable again and I love Eric’s idea to add the little ladybug rock to it 😍 Otherwise I made a huge prices cleaning and preparing the fairy garden and decided on redesigning it. I plan on moving the tiny sculptures in the opposite corner, that that not all the leaves from the tree falling on top of it and to place the more delicate sculptures, that need a bit more protection from the sun, around the tree. I also got new lights and several new things to add, that I got for my birthday and for Christmas. I will first finish decorating the fence and the upper part of the wall, before I place things into the the fairy garden. Still a lot to do. But it’s a very fun exciting project for me and I can’t wait to see how it looks like when it’s done. Stay posted! 😇🙂

It’s that time of the year, when my fairy garden needs its spring cleaning and many of the things in there need some fresh paint. This was one of the pieces I just finished. Sadly I forgot to take a picture before, but mark my words, this little cottage was almost white before I started. There were lots of tiny details, but since I’m fighting off a cold at the moment I use the time to get some things done and I love how this one turned out 🥰😍 I bought It together with the four other pieces in a garage sale several years back for just under $5 and never got around to it to give it a makeover. ( I’m going to add the picture in the comment section) Now is the time, stay posted for the finished project 😊

It’s already January and I finally finished the fourth and last Christmas project that I started end of last year, but it was a bit more time consuming then the other three. I bought the calendar for about $5 early last year (I can’t recall if it was at Goodwill or Michaels) and saw the potential. I was looking forward adding an advents calendar I could use every year and I fall in love with this one. I used acrylic paints to I add some colors to it and finished everything up with a fine finished coat of shellac, to give the wood this light golden color. I think I will display this calendar this year at the Ventura County Fair as one of my art projects.

Here is my third Christmas project I finished already a could weeks ago. I found this cute little snowman in the after Christmas sale last year at Michaels for 75% off and fall in love with it, especially since it also lights up. I spraypainted it at first again, but the paint was running down and it looked a bit messy. So I decided to add fake snow on its belly and I above how he turned out. He is now part of our Christmas decoration in the following years 🥰🎄🧑‍🎄

I finished another fun project and this one was a custom order from a neighbor, who loved the jar I made for the fair this year. This one is a bit smaller, but I used the exact same design, but used the writing she asked me for. I used a very special finish gloss coat, that dries like clear plastic and can also be used on boats. It worked perfectly on the ceramic, made the colors pop even more and should protect the artwork just fine in the future. I think I will use this from now on for most of my special art pieces.

I love painting sculptures! This one had a lot of small details, but I don’t mind the challenge. My favorite is the color I mixed together for the light, it turned out perfectly. This Santa will be part of our inside Christmas decoration, since the material isn’t made to last outside very long.
I used acrylic paints and finished it of with a clear gloss spray coat.
