We had the privilege of getting to tour the Rug & Kilim Long Island City Showroom. This is the heart of the Rug & Kilim institution, where it all began! His father, Jahanshah “Josh” Nazmiyal, was the founder of the company in 1980. What began as a humble family workshop had blossomed into one of the most respected authorities in the field. We currently work very closely with Cyrus, Josh’s son. They have a beautiful showroom and so many gorgeous rugs to look at. You can feel the integrity and authenticity in every work of art you see throughout the building. We had a private tour which provided wonderful education on rug making and the history of the business. It was an incredible experience!

Unlike standard rug retailers or online stores, everything we do is custom. We do not sell cash-and-carry rugs or one-size-fits-all flooring products. Every project is made specifically for the customer, allowing for complete flexibility in size, shape, texture, material, color, edge finish, and layout.

"John and his team are absolutely wonderful. He met with my wife and I and went over many options. Gave us better quality for less money. He was punctual, respectful and followed through with his word on installation and timing. Would not go anywhere else for carpet needs. Highly recommend! Thanks john for everything you helped us with."

There's nothing quite like a beautiful hardwood floor.

Hardwood brings warmth, character and a timeless foundation to a room and it's one of those investments that can completely change the way a space feels. We love helping our clients choose the right wood, color, and finish for their home and then seeing it all come together once it's installed.

But here's the thing... we love a gorgeous hardwood floor AND we love putting a stunning rug on top of it.

Because the right rug doesn't hide the beautiful flooring, it compliments it!

In this room, the hardwood creates a warm, rich foundation, while this standout hide rug brings softness and texture with a bold graphic element. You still see the wood, but now the room feels layered, cozy and finished.

How about that for a stunning before AND after!

There’s nothing quite like new rug samples showing up at the shop—and these are pretty darn good.

But you know what we love almost as much as the rugs themselves? Those little HANDMADE tags.

We think it’s pretty bold when a company puts HANDMADE right there on their samples. And frankly, we love a good brag when you’ve earned it.

Because handmade doesn’t mean somebody pushed a button and started a machine. These rugs are actually made by human hands—using skills, techniques and craftsmanship that simply can’t be replicated by mass production.

Beautiful rugs. Made by hand. And yeah… they’re looking good.
