The Madhouse finished it's year off with reaching 3k sales on etsy. Thanks to all my lovely buyers and supporters out there!
As of this morning it has also reached 1000 reviews so we are starting this year off right!

"Mushmouth," is a watercolor painting I made that represents what it feels like to lose your words or your ability to articulate your feelings..

The other day I had an autistic meltdown in public.

People were staring, wondering why this fully grown woman was running away/eloping the opposite direction of her boyfriend (who's just trying to calm her) because I was so overstimulated I was no longer in control. Asking "what's wrong," is so frustrating because I don't know what's wrong half the time, everything just comes to a head.

Generally it's a bunch of different things that can set it off (sun is too bright, my shirt is itchy, I'm too hot, there is a lot of traffic noise, something is closed that I planned to do, etc). Meltdowns are NOT temper tantrums or "childish." They come with big emotions & are not voluntary.

- The above was something I wrote last year around this time.

However, it's not completely abnormal for me to shut down. After my event in Denver recently, I completely dropped the mask and had to go lay down for several hours + put my headphones on. My partner kept asking me if it was "sensory" related, and that was definitely part of it. I touched too many "bad" surfaces in a short period of time and talked to so many people, I physically couldn't function anymore.
