To say the news of these closing stores is heartbreaking, is putting it mildly. It is truly devastating to everyone involved.
We want to reassure everyone that 254 Craft Mall isn't going anywhere any time soon.
There are ups and downs in every retail store, we plan and prepare and roll with it. Some vendors may get scared and jump ship, but those who know, stay and patiently wait.
We rely on our community to shop local at every opportunity, to ensure that these small businesses inside the store not only survive but flourish.
For some it is a sole income, for others it is a supplement to a pension, disability or retirement. Some simply want to realize a dream of owning their own business. Nonetheless, these people work tirelessly to bring their absolute best to you, every single day!
So please continue to shop local, shop often, support the dream and share what 254 Craft Mall has to offer with your friends and family.
๐จ NEW INFO on the Painted Tree Closure ๐จ
After abruptly closing all of its locations, Painted Tree sent vendors an FAQ outlining what happens next โ and thereโs tough news for both shop owners and customers.
โช๏ธ Vendors will not be paid for March or April sales. Painted Tree says it expects to file for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, meaning vendors owed money will have to file claims in bankruptcy court, with no guarantee of payment.
โช๏ธ Refunds for prepaid rent or security deposits wonโt be issued directly and must also go through the bankruptcy process.
โช๏ธ Painted Tree gift cards are no longer valid. The company says it cannot honor or refund gift cards now that all retail operations have stopped. Gift card holders may have to file a claim with bankruptcy court if they want their money back.
โช๏ธ Stores are only open temporarily for vendors to retrieve their inventory, with access expected through Friday, April 24, depending on landlord approval.
Painted Tree says more details on the bankruptcy claims process will come once the case is officially filed.
Yikes, y'all.
