My heart is full. My family is home. And this mama is ready to begin again. 🤍🌺

These past two months held so much we never expected. Welcoming Isaiah early, walking through 49 days in the NICU, and being away from home meant putting Kapua Co. on pause while I gave my family everything I had.

Today, I’m stepping back into our business with so much gratitude. Becoming a mama of two has given me even more reasons to keep building something I’m proud of. Bailey inspired the beginning of Kapua Co., and now both of my babies are part of the heart that keeps me going.

To everyone who checked on us, prayed for Isaiah, and stayed here through the quiet—mahalo. I felt your love even when I didn’t have much left to give. 🥹🤍

33 years of life today. 🤍

This birthday feels different.

This season has stretched me, humbled me, broken me, and taught me more about life, love, faith and motherhood than I ever imagined.

At 33, I’ve learned that you can be incredibly grateful while your heart is still hurting.

Bailey, my first baby… I miss you more than words can explain. I miss your hugs, your voice, our routines and simply being your mommy without wondering when I have to leave again.

Isaiah, my little warrior… every gram gained, every milestone and every step closer to home feels like an answered prayer.

And that has been the hardest part…

No matter where I am, I’m missing one of my babies.

A mother’s heart was never meant to be divided like this.

Through it all, I’m so thankful for my husband, who has loved and carried me through every version of myself, and for our FAMILY AND FRIENDS who stepped in, prayed, helped and became the village we desperately needed.

And then there’s Kapua Co. — my dream, my livelihood, and something I’ve poured so much of myself into. I E built with my own two hands. Watching it come to a standstill has been scary, but this season reminded me:

My business can wait. My babies cannot.

Kapua Co. will come back.

And so will I. It is a reminder of who I built this for. My babies.

So for my 33rd birthday, I don’t want anything wrapped in a box.

I want Isaiah healthy enough to come home.
I want to hold Bailey without another goodbye.
I want my husband beside me.
I want all my babies under one roof.

I just want my whole heart home.

God, if I get one birthday wish…

Please let 33 be the year our family finally comes home. 🤍 it has been 26 days of being in the Nicu. Nearly a month.

Not the birthday I imagined. Not the season I would have chosen. But one that has taught me that everything else can be rebuilt.

My babies. My husband. My family. My faith. That’s what matters. ❤️‍🩹

I never thought I would be a NICU mom twice. 🤍

I remember these four walls.
The monitors. The alarms. The wires.
Holding my breath every time the numbers changed.

I remember because I lived it with Bailey.

And now, years later, I’m here again… this time beside my son.

There’s something heartbreaking about reliving a chapter you thought you had already survived.

The little girl I once sat beside in the NICU is now the little girl I’m separated from while I sit beside her baby brother.

I look at Bailey and see proof that NICU babies grow. Then I look at my tiny son covered in wires, and I pray that one day this will be a memory for him, too.

My body is still healing from a C-section, cut open both ways, while my heart is trying to exist in two places at once.

When I’m with my son, I miss Bailey.
When I’m with Bailey, part of me is still beside that NICU bed.

I miss my family.
I miss home.
I miss having all of my babies under one roof.

So I count the days and hours. The ounces gained. The oxygen coming down. The wires slowly disappearing.

Because in the NICU, the smallest milestone feels like the biggest miracle.

Being a NICU mom twice doesn’t mean I’m stronger this time.

It means I know what these alarms sound like. I know what it feels like to leave the hospital without your baby. And I know the quiet prayer that comes from the deepest part of you:

“Please, God… just get us all home.”

For NICU Awareness Month, I carry two NICU stories in my heart.

Bailey was once the baby behind these four walls.

Now she’s on the outside waiting for her little brother to come home. 🥺🤍

One day, the alarms will be quiet.
The wires will be gone.
I’ll hold my baby without watching a monitor.

And I won’t have to feel like my heart is living in two places.

I’ll have both of my babies home.

Until then…

One more day.
One more milestone.
One more prayer.
One day closer to home. 🤍

🤍 Our sweet boy. Our little warrior. Our answered prayer.

On August 7th At 3:49 AM, our entire world changed forever.

✨ Isaiah Kamakaokalani Rico Edwin ✨

You came much earlier than Mommy and Daddy ever imagined. We thought we had more time—more weeks with you safely underneath Mommy’s heart, more kicks, more nights with Daddy’s hand on my belly, and more time watching Bailey count down the days until she could finally meet the baby brother she waited so many years for.

But suddenly… you were here.

So tiny. So precious. So incredibly loved. And already fighting.

In so many ways, it felt like déjà vu. Years ago, Mommy and Daddy walked a similar journey with Bailey. The tiny baby we once prayed over is now standing beside us, praying for her baby brother. And looking at her reminds us there is so much life waiting for you after the fear. 🤍

Shortly after you arrived, you needed to leave us to receive the care your tiny body needed.

I had just met you, and already I had to miss you.

Being separated from you has broken Mommy’s heart in ways I didn’t know were possible. Every minute feels too long. My arms ache to hold you. Daddy wishes he could take every hard moment away from his son, and Bailey is waiting for the little brother she already loves so deeply.

But through it all, you fight.

Oh Isaiah, how you fight.

Every breath, every movement, every gram gained, every little milestone—we will celebrate them all.

You are tiny, but you are mighty.

If Isaiah can fight, Mommy can fight too. Daddy will fight. Bailey will fight. Your entire ʻohana will fight beside you.

And somehow, even the day you arrived carries our family’s story. You came weeks earlier than expected, yet out of every possible day, you were born on your great-grandpa’s birthday. 🤍 A day that once celebrated his life now celebrates yours too.

🤍 Isaiah — “The Lord is salvation.” A name chosen by your big sister, Bailey.

🌺 Kamakaokalani — “the eyes of the heavens” or “the heavenly face.” Our little piece of heaven here on earth.

🤍 Rico — chosen in loving memory of Daddy and Uncle Rio’s brother, forever carrying a piece of someone deeply loved.

🤍 To Our Kapua Co. ʻOhana 🤍 SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!!!

This is one of the hardest messages I’ve ever had to write.

If you’ve followed Kapua Co. from the beginning, you know this business has always been so much more than clothing. It was built from love, inspired by my family, and created with the hope of sharing a little piece of Hawaiʻi with each of you. Every collection tells a story, and every market has allowed me to meet so many incredible people who have become part of our journey.

Unfortunately, due to unexpected pregnancy-related medical complications, I need to step away and focus on my health and our baby boy. After many difficult conversations and following the guidance of my medical team, we’ve made the decision to cancel all remaining markets, pop-ups, and business activities for the rest of this month. We will reopen website ending of the month.

This decision wasn’t easy. As a small business owner, showing up has always been important to me. But right now, the most important thing I can do is take care of myself and our growing family.

To everyone who has supported Kapua Co.—whether you’ve made a purchase, shared our posts, stopped by our booth, or simply cheered us on—thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your love, encouragement, and prayers have carried us through so many milestones, and I know they’ll carry us through this one too.

Please keep our family, and especially our sweet baby boy, in your prayers as we navigate this unexpected season. We are trusting that this is only a pause, not the end, and we look forward to returning when the time is right.
