My forthcoming involvement (August 2026 in Ohio as a quilt maker plays a vital role in the narrative of Oklahoma's black folk history, allowing me to honor Dr. Ada Sipuel Fisher, my aunt, while participating in this notable occasion.

Thanks to the unwavering dedication of Dr. Carolyn Mazloomi, curator, quilter, and founder of the Women of Color Quilters Network (WCQN).

The atmosphere was captivating, reflecting this weekend’s Chuck Wagon Festival — a gathering of individuals united in their pursuit of enjoyment across various age groups. A prevailing sense of acceptance and warmth was discernible, marked by genuine smiles and friendly nods exchanged among Oklahomans and visitors across the Midwest.

Since 2018, my weekend has been set to HANG MY QUILTS…. this International Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City stands out as particularly memorable. Hubby was with me!! Plus the first sharing of Oklahoma’s Boley Rodeo talents and historic-black pride .. Yep Yep!

The scenery of plant surroundings, complemented by Native American cast iron-good cooking and an engaging 'blow gum' demonstration, contributed to the experience's satisfaction.

Notably, I showcased the STQG and EQG quilt exhibit —lots of appreciation from every audience, just fueling my passion for this adventurous fiber art journey,

I am delighted to be a part of the OKC Arts Council as a Teaching Artist. The prospects for 2026 appear bright, particularly as I quilt with so many unique and talented ladies (men??) at the NE Wellness Center/OKC.
