Project: Don’t Be Afraid to do Some Demo!

Problem: Wasted, non-functioning, and dark kitchen corner.

Solution: Arm strength 💪🏼 and paint!

While it’s easy to see the “wow” from the original kitchen to the transformation photos (swipe through! ⬅️), if you look closely, the cabinets and backsplash are the same! We removed the dusty and unused wine rack (arm strength pulled it right out!) to create a cookbook nook and took out the ?!drawers?! in the upper wall cabinets to make a more manageable-to-fill wine cabinet.
We added a counter lamp (thanks, Target!) for extra lighting and changed out the hardware on the cabinet doors.
Although the cabinets were professionally painted, the use of color through the decor (cookbooks, lamp, and planter) gave this corner some personality and warmth which was key to making this space work harder and feel better for the homeowners.

Project: From Boring to Bold! 🎨

Problem: Room was all a uniform color and fireplace was lost

Solution: Paint! Sometimes all you need to revamp a space is a can of paint!

This forgotten fireplace became the focal point in the living room by grounding the space while adding a modern and dramatic twist on a fire place/accent wall. Adding an affordable faux wood mantel from Amazon really brought this look together.

Project: Let's Make it Yours

Concern: Large family room with multiple functions

Solution: Focal Fireplace 🔥

Explanation: The homeowners had moved into a home that had two living spaces. They loved having a wood-burning fireplace but didn't know how to add or arrange the furniture and decor, or add their style to the additional space.

To balance and highlight the asymmetrical fireplace, we painted a dark blue accent color to contrast the lighter stone on the remaining wall space . We added a built-in cabinet in a matching color in the unused area beside the fireplace and with the remaining space, added functional storage for split firewood. With the dark stained butcher-block countertop, matching stain coffee table, and decor the homeowner already had, we were able to create a functional, yet sophisticated fireplace "storage" zone as well as freshen up the beautiful fireplace feature wall.

Project: Add Some Character

Concern: Unused space with strange dimensions

Solution: A Book Nook 📚📖

Explanation:This space had originally been a spare bedroom that the former home owner had opened up to create a sitting room. But the space where the original closet had been was awkward and the function of the room was lacking and boring.

After some research and planning, we created "The Book Nook" to give this space some character while provide the current homeowner with storage for all her books and a place to read and practice music. All white, custom shelves were installed using 7” depth- just enough to hold the books in place while also making them the focal point. We also created a faux staircase slanted "ceiling" to define the space and create a charming, unexpected nook (totally giving us "Book Thief" vibes ). Along with a bench with under storage, cozy cushions, and board and batten trimwork, we couldn’t be happier with how this cozy hangout/study turned out.
