Getting back into the swing of things and keeping the bar low. Getting up to the Waynesboro studio has felt really difficult given the low energy summer I had in the first trimester trenches, and now fall is in full-swing with an insanely packed calendar.

I feel so fortunate that I have some custom orders that came in from the Paw Paw Festival that I feel ready to get started on. And I'm so glad I have a wheel at home to work on. I'm throwing the orders in between two shifts of a wood firing, and I'm making it work!

Time feels like it's ticking down knowing that, come January, my free time will look a wholeeeee lot different. I'm trying to enjoy as much of it as I can. It feels good to be making again 🥰

Back in July, I had the privilege of taking a teapot workshop from Yoko Sekino-Bove at Artspiration Frederick through Tameria Martinez. Before taking this, I had never made a teapot. They always felt so intimidating and something, therefore, I just never made the time to try out.

What I LOVED about Yoko's class, other than how lovely, generous, and personable she was, was how accessible she made making teapots to be! On the first day, we hand built a teapot in 30 minutes (mine was closer to an hour+ 😜). And then the next challenge was to make a teapot—handle, spout, lid, and body—out of one pound of clay. We could do that on the wheel or hand building. I chose the wheel, and it was a blast! Learning to throw tiny lids, tiny spouts, and tiny pot bodies were such great challenges. And if something didn't go as planned, it was only a pound of clay to recycle.

These three just came out of the bisque this morning. They will all get celadon-style glazes, and then a couple will get some lusters. The bold design with my cat, Dale, as the lucky cat was inspired by Yoko's style as an ode to her class and her generosity. I'll post pictures when they're complete, of course, but couldn't wait to share their progress now 🥰

Feeling incredibly humbled and grateful for the amount of support and love my little hobby was shown today. I had never attended the festival and had no idea what to expect, but Paw Paw showed up!

Thankful for allllll the kind words, purchases, grace (thinking of one couple in particular who I accidentally double-charged for something and they came back to tell me SO kindly—thank you!), and other forms of support through taking a card or following on social media ❤️

It was so much fun. All the vendors around me said they'd done well, which was encouraging to hear. I loved the paw paw lemonade, ice cream, and fruit I left with! Thankful, also, to my bff Britney who helped me all day today. I would NOT have been able to do all of this by myself. Looking forward to making more paw paw things in the future for next year's festival, God willing!

A kiln unload just in time for the Pawpaw Festival WV this weekend in Paw Paw, WV! Happening this Saturday, Sept. 12 from 10 AM to 5 PM. I'll be booth 38, so come see me.

Mugs are one-of-a-kind. But don't worry. I'll post pictures of what I made, and if it sells before you get it, I can make you another 😉

If you've wondered why this account has been quiet for a while, this is why 🥰

My husband and I are so excited to be welcoming a baby girl in early 2027.

I really can't describe my current state of emotions. We've been looking forward to and trying for this for a long time, so I'm feeling disbelief and joy and nervousness and so many other things daily.

We're so grateful for the community we have, and wow. What a journey that lies ahead!

I still plan on making and posting. It just may be a little sporadic until I can find a new rhythm 🩷🎀

A little jar that matches the hand built better dish I did almost two months ago. This lid had some cracking the top where I attached the flower, so ohhh darnnn. I have to keep it! 😉

Happy Saturday! It's been a couple weeks since we unloaded Tammy's train kiln, but I will have pictures of some of my pots from that firing coming soon. A lot of glaze experiments in that — some that worked great, some that definitely need re-fired. But that's the name of the game!

I know strawberry season is practically over but I finally got around to making a single-serve berry rinser. I have one more that needs bisqued and glazed, but I love the frilly little edges on this one 🥰🍓

Perfect also for blueberries coming in hot!

An urn for Rosie 🩷

My sister asked me to make this for her beloved childhood dog who passed away last year. She initially asked for it for her birthday (which is in October 😬). Attempt one: the lid stuck. Attempt two: the glaze ran and the bottom not only stuck to my kiln shelf but also completely broke apart. Attempt three: success 🙌🏼

I hope Rosie enjoys her new place to rest.
