A simple composition. This Carrera marble mosaic wall provides a lovely backdrop for the darker wood. We chose a Bardiglio grey marble on the floor. The curve of the bench leg is a graceful note amongst the rectangular shapes. The pair of sconces on the wall (vs. overhead) ensures perfect lighting on your face. I used a mix of metal finishes, as I often like to do. ⁠

This space is from the 1960's, including the chic brass handrail. I stained the wood steps deep grey and added a charcoal patterned carpet. One large painting focuses your eye on the back wall. The sconces are from the same era as the house, purchased at the Paris flea markets. ⁠

Transformation Tuesday. We turned this space into a fresher, brighter, more sophisticated version of itself. We chose chic leather and chrome chairs to pair with the existing table and painted the display cabinet white for a refreshing blend of old and new. A striae wallcovering provides a great background for the clients’ art. Whether hosting family or friends, this family is ready for a new chapter.⁠

Transformation Tuesday. Let’s talk about a common mistake people make with area rugs—choosing one that’s too small. A larger rug directs the eye outward, creating an expansive feel. We designed this new rug with an updated geometric pattern, crafted in luxurious wool & silk. I kept the chair but had it refinished with a glazed satin lacquer and reupholstered in an elegant damask that echoes the rug’s color palette. We replaced the front door with one made of rich mahogany, ebonized the handrail, and designed new moldings, giving the space a grander feel. ⁠
