🌸 A Little “Behind the Blooms” from Your Event Florist 🌸
There’s a lot more that goes into wedding and event florals than most people ever see. Beautiful flowers are the finished product — but behind them are hours of planning, sourcing, designing, preparation and setup.
So, from the florist’s side of the table, here are a few things we’d love our clients to know:
🌿 Our time matters, too.
We truly love hearing from our clients and helping bring their ideas to life. But evenings, weekends and family time are important, too. Unless it’s an event-day emergency, we may not always respond immediately — and that’s okay. We promise, we will respond!
🌿 A planner or coordinator can be worth their weight in gold.
Their job isn’t just helping you plan beforehand. On your wedding day, they’re the person making sure all those carefully made plans actually happen — allowing you and your family to enjoy the day. Yes, we do that too.
🌿 Pinterest and inspiration photos are wonderful starting points — but the vision and budget have to meet somewhere.
When a professional tells you something may not be realistic within your budget, we aren’t trying to take away your dream. We’re helping you find another beautiful way to achieve the overall look.
🌿 Design work takes time.
We’re happy to answer questions and make reasonable adjustments while you’re considering booking. But consultations, redesigns, sourcing and revised proposals all take time. At some point, continued design work needs to happen after your date has been officially reserved.
🌿 You aren’t paying for “just flowers.”
Wedding floral pricing can include consultations, design planning, sourcing, ordering, conditioning flowers, mechanics, containers, labor, staffing, transportation, delivery, installation, breakdown and hours of preparation you never see. We don’t simply arrive, put flowers on tables and leave.
🌿 Not all floral quotes are comparing the same thing.
Every florist prices differently. A lower quote may involve different flowers, quantities, mechanics, labor, services or overall design. Make sure you’re comparing the scope of the proposals — not simply the bottom-line number.
🌿 AI, ChatGPT and Pinterest can create amazing inspiration.
We love creativity! But real flowers still have seasons, stems have limitations, mechanics have to work, venues have rules — and gravity remains undefeated. 😅 Inspiration gives us a direction; professional design figures out how to make it work in real life.
🌿 Grocery-store flowers can absolutely be beautiful.
But professional event florals require consistency in color, variety, quality, quantity and timing. Your florist is sourcing flowers specifically to create a coordinated overall design.
🌿 More tables usually means more product and more labor.
If your guest or table count increases, your floral budget may need to increase as well. We can often redesign or redistribute elements to help protect your budget — but something somewhere usually has to change.
🌿 Thinking about bringing additional flowers? Please talk with your florist first.
Outside flowers can affect the color palette, quality, consistency and overall finished design. We want everything in the room to look intentional and cohesive.
None of this is about being difficult or saying “no.”
It’s about making sure your expectations, your budget and what can realistically be created all meet in the same place.
Because at the end of the day, we want exactly what you want:
A beautiful celebration that feels like YOU — and flowers you absolutely love. 💐
