No alpacas today (Too hot, but they will be here all weekend when it’s a bit cooler) but we received a huge pile of new alpaca yarns from Susan at Earth, Wind and Fleece. Some is all alpaca, some luxury blends. Natural colors, nice plush feel and abundant skeins.

We have some of our favorite plants for sale. Wonderful tomato varieties you may not know, like Arkansas Traveler and Golden Jubilee, as well as faves like Early Girl and Better Boy (it will be producing by months end!). Also find our favorite zucchini, an heirloom Italian Romanescu that is delicious. And… some flowers and herbs for people and pollinators. All are ready to be planted so hurry in for best selection.

New at the shop! We have planted a dyers garden. Plants have been used to dye fiber for centuries before the invention of chemical dyes. Plant dyes are easier on the environment and better for humans too! Some natural dyes are fairly common, like marigolds, but we have added weld, dyers coreopsis, indigo and madder.

Just for fun, this holiday weekend, we have … Patriot Brittle! We will only be open Saturday from 11-2 to accommodate a family need. We will be open regular hours Sunday from 11-5 and looks like it will be a good day to stop by and enjoy free coffee and a freshly baked scone!

One of our over-wintered eastern black swallowtail butterflies emerged first thing this morning. While we were waiting for it to get its wings all pumped up a second one emerged! It has been a while since one “came out” and we were beginning to think we had duds. Two more to go!
