Tim's Handy Works

Tim's Handy Works Provider of high quality, reasonably priced wooden products, including board, dice and cribbage games. At 16, I saved money from my job to buy my first tools.

While Tim’s Handy Works was officially founded in 2010, my passion for wood working started at an early age. A small table saw, a random orbit sander and a jig saw. I began making projects in the garage for my family and friends, and the rest is history! Today, my shop consists of an outbuilding that I have filled with the tools of the trade. I have laser engravers, CNC machines, a slew of saws, p

laners, sanders, routers, drills and the like, and I spend as much time as possible creating things for people to enjoy. I truly love designing and building the products I do, and take great pride in the happiness they bring to my customers. From the first product of mine you purchase, you will see the passion behind my work. Using solid hardwoods wherever possible, clever game piece storage options, attention to detail, fine craftsmanship, and above all, fun game play, I promise you won't be disappointed! Well, now that their gala is over, I can spill the beans on what I've been working on for the past month!

This year, I've once again had the pleasure of working with the Little Warrior Foundation to design and build some special gifts for one of their annual events.

This year, it was a 7 in 1 game set that can be taken mobile to allow the kids and parents the chance to have some fun playing games and hopefully lift their spirits at the same time!

The Little Warrior Foundation started right in Brookfield, WI with the mission of finding and funding a lasting cure for Ewing Sarcoma.

This is near and dear to my heart, as I was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma when I was 19 and went through the 'absurdly toxic' treatment protocol myself.

I truly hope they find their cure, and will do anything I can to help support their mission. If you find it in the kindness of your heart, I'd ask that you take a look at their page and help if you can as well!

Had the pleasure of being able to work with LaCrosse Distilling on some display racks that will be used to show their products in liquor stores. Completely custom design that folds up to fit easily into a car, but can hold more than 40 pounds per shelf! And I even have a picture of one of them in action!!

I've had the chance to try their Buck Dancer bourbon, Fieldnotes Vodka and Fieldnotes Gin, and all of it was top notch! If you are looking for something new to try and haven't checked them out yet, I'd highly recommend!

As we enter the holiday shopping season, there is something I want you to keep in mind. I call it "The Free Shipping Fallacy"

When listing my products for sale online, the site I use typically tells me, your items will sell faster if you offer free shipping. On the surface, that sounds like a good idea, but as we all know, nothing is really for free, and that includes free shipping!

As a seller, there are a number of costs involved to ship a product. These include the actual time spent picking, protecting and packaging the product, cost of materials such as boxes, padding and tape, and of course, the shipping price itself.

I always cover the cost of packing materials as part of the cost of doing business, but I cannot do the same with the actual shipping price. And boy, let me tell you, that cost has done nothing but go up! For example, in 2023, my actual cost to ship a product using my most common method, a padded flat rate envelope, was $8.30. In 2025, that price has jumped a whopping 35% to $11.20!

What that means to me is that before I even list a product for sale, if I offer free shipping, I know I’m going to spend at least $11.20 to get it to my customer. What this means to the customer is that when you see a price for an item, that price has the free shipping fee added to the actual price for the item.

So if you are comparing my items against a competitor who does not offer free shipping, be aware that you will most likely spend about an additional ten dollars to have the product shipped to you. What’s more, I see a lot of sellers out there adding the good old ‘handling’ fee in addition to shipping! That is something I will NEVER do. When you pay shipping costs with me, you are paying my ACTUAL COST, not something that’s been marked up and has handling fees added on top.

So if you see my prices go up slightly, be aware this is not because I want to make more money from you, I’m simply trying to keep up with the increase shipping costs I have no control over. I just ask that you keep this in mind when doing your shopping this year, as I strive to offer the lowest prices possible for the highest quality products available!

Working on a prototype for some racks for LaCrosse Distilling to display their spirits in various liquor stores.

I came up with a collapsible design that would allow for easy transport, quick setup, and a really professional look in the store. Waiting on feedback to see what they think. Hope they like it!!

Our Story

Tim’s Handy Works was born from my passion for woodworking. It started as a hobby back in my teenage years, where I discovered the joy in designing and creating things from wood. I’ve done furniture, shelves, tables, built-in book cases, desks, trim work, full basement remodeling, and all types and sizes of projects in between. I love to visualize a project in my head, then be amazed as I watch it come to life in my shop!

An avid bags player, I ended up making a really nice set for myself a number of years ago. A friend saw it, and asked if I could build one for him, too. I did, then his friend saw it and also wanted a set. Word of mouth spread, and before I knew it, was doing bags sets for people, local businesses, Pick N Save, and even for the Milwaukee Brewers!

In addition to playing bags, I have also been a big fan of playing cribbage. In 2015, I bought myself a laser engraver, and started making custom cribbage boards with it. Over the years, I have honed the craft, and now do cribbage boards of many shapes and sizes, some with very intricate designs.

I absolutely love being able to create things for people, and truly enjoy seeing their eyes light up the first time they see what they ordered. I strive to offer extremely high quality, hand made products at a fair price. My products are all hand crafted, never mass produced, and customized to the needs of each individual ordering them.
