We’ve mentioned before how running a boutique means managing a million tiny tasks before the doors even open. In reality, we don’t just style outfits and chat with guests; we juggle an endless to-do list every single day.

From ordering, unboxing, and inventory management to cleaning, replying to messages, creating social media content, and building visual displays, the work never ends and can be tiring.

But then, the door chime rings. A customer walks in, tries on a jacket, and loves how it fits. A neighbor drops by to compliment the window display. Those moments of real connection change the whole day.

When a community rallies around a small business, it turns a challenging chore list into a joyful shared experience. Knowing you choose to spend your hard-earned money in our shop instead of a large, impersonal, chain store or online behemoth juggernaut, makes every mundane task worth it.

We experienced a special moment of connection this past Tuesday. A female customer was perusing our collection of music t-shirts and happened to be holding a Dolly Parton shirt at the exact moment the news of Dolly’s passing was announced on our streaming station. It was a poignant, shared moment, and the customer bought the shirt.

Dolly Parton epitomized everything I want our business and my life to reflect: unwavering authenticity, wit, empathy, warmth, kindness, and exceptional business acumen. In her final statement, released just four days before her passing on August 25, 2026, she shared, “I still have so many things I want to achieve.”

Thank you, Dolly, for inspiring us to be better humans and to keep achieving,. And thank you to our community for making every single day special and memorable in so many unexpected ways.
