Chris and I, along with Lindsey and the babies, attended our nephews graduation in South Georgia. Now, Chris and I have come to Mexico Beach for a few days of alone time, rest, relaxation and to recharge our batteries.
However, never fear, the farmstand is OPEN and Forrest is around if you need him…taking care of the chickens and the animals and working on the farm!

We’ll be honest… we don’t know everything, and we’re learning as we go. But that’s part of the reason we wanted to do it. We wanted our children to experience where food truly comes from, to learn patience, responsibility, and the value of hard work with their own hands.
There’s something special about watching tiny seeds sprout into something that can feed your family. Even the failures and mistakes become lessons worth teaching. In a world where everything feels fast and convenient, we want our kids to slow down, get their hands dirty, and understand the care it takes to grow food naturally.
Whether our garden thrives or struggles, the memories and lessons being planted alongside these vegetables are already worth it. 💚
Here’s to learning new skills, raising capable children, and taking one more step toward a simpler, more intentional way of life.

Let’s talk eggs!!

There’s a big difference between fresh pasture-raised eggs and most grocery store eggs. 🥚🌿
Many store-bought eggs are already several weeks old before they ever make it to the shelf. After being laid, they are often washed, processed, packaged, transported, and stored before finally reaching the grocery store — and then may sit in your refrigerator even longer before being used.
Fresh pasture-raised eggs are much different. Our hens spend time outdoors with access to pasture, fresh air, sunshine, and natural foraging, which can contribute to richer yolks, firmer whites, and better flavor. Fresh eggs also naturally contain a protective coating called the bloom. When eggs are left unwashed, that bloom helps seal the shell and protect the egg naturally.
You can often see the difference immediately — brighter orange yolks, thicker whites, and a fresher taste that grocery store eggs just can’t compare to.
But don’t judge the status of all the chicken p**p everywhere. That’s the trade off 😆🤦‍♀️🤪
