Have your plants been talking to you? The Purple Texas Sage bushes have put out a whole lot of blooms these past week as they let us know some rain was coming. How about that, and then it rains! There is truth in The Almanac, and in old wives tales, too! Keep your eyes peeled as a small cool front will soon approach us. Do you notice changes in your pets, animals in the yard, or even in your plants?

Okay, the quest for fresh vegetable transplants/starters has been on all of last week and into this week. The grow houses are having a hard time keeping up with their stock at this time. So, what we did get our hands on, these transplants are small, but vigorous. Let us show you what came in...

-Broccoli---there are 3 varieties to choose from. Check out the maturity times and plant accordingly.

-Cabbage---by special request, there is some Early Jersey Wakefield Cabbage on the tables now, along with another variety, Early Flat Dutch.

-Cauliflower---Snow Crown is the favorite around here and you can get some here.

-Kale & Mustard Greens---for those who have been asking, here are some seasonal greens.

-There might not be too much chance for Jalapenos/Bell Peppers are the temps cool off, but there are still tomatoes producing, along with some bell peppers.

So, the mission has been accomplished for now. We are waiting on Pansies and Violas, which will be in soon.

The Front Yard is grateful. Most of the shoppers who came looking for fall vegetables and colorful flowers got what they wanted. The Broccoli, Cauliflower, and Cabbage plants flew home to get put in the ground as soon as possible. The Bougainvillea hanging baskets, along with Purslane and Pentas, are selling well, too.

We were amazed at how, little by little, the plants were going home and would be fruitful. When Teressa saw open space on the tables, she hurried up and brought in those vegetables. Then came the flowering plants, such as Mums, Snapdragons, Dianthus, and Marigolds. Be sure to get these Mums before they open, so they can grace your space with their first blooms to greet the cooler weather.

After coming off the long hot summer temperatures, now everyone has first frost dates on their minds. Well, some folks decide not to put up a garden, while others can't wait to get their hands and plants into rich, loamy soil. Picking peas and green beans in the fall is such a pleasure, for one. Today, Teressa is off on another quest for more vegetables, so as soon as they come in, we will surely let you all know, okay. Thanks for your support!

Hello to everyone on this soggy Monday! As we get nearer and nearer to the Holiday season, The Front Yard has another "Pre-Holiday Sale" announcement.

Starting today, all Fall & Seasonal decorations are on sale for 50% OFF! The colorful metal pumpkins & scarecrows arrived last season and are just looking for some good homes to go to. Those porch leaners are two-sided, with Christmas decor on the other side, which is a cool idea, especially when it comes to storing one of them instead of two. Great price and a great deal, just as an example of the savings potential.

There are plenty of fall-themed garden flags to add that touch of fall color to a yard, porch or patio. C'mon in and give it all a look-you may see something you want!

Yes! The delivery truck delivered and here's some of what was brought out fresh:

Vegetables-Broccoli, Cabbage, Cauliflower, in both 6-packs and 4 in. pots

Flowering Plants-Celosia, Snapdragons in many colors, Zinnia in qt. pots, Harmony Stock mix, Texas Sage, Pumpkin Pie Bronze Garden Mum, and 3 colors of Lantana: Pink, Yellow & Reds.

More deliveries will start arriving more frequently, so we are still looking for Jersey Wakefield Cabbage and Strawberry plants.

Out here at The Front Yard we are waiting on the delivery truck today! We do have a Giddy Goose who wants to show off her cool Gingham Dress outfit here with us. She is a little miffed because the Goose with the Witch outfit sold on Monday...

There will be fresh vegetable and garden bedding plants coming in on this delivery truck, so we are expecting a crowd on Saturday. Isn't this just the best gardening weather?

There are some colorful Marigolds, in yellow and orange, on the tables today, along with some Calendula with a bright yellow flower too. The Dianthus plants are quite colorful, as are the Portulaca plants, with their bright purple flowers.

As soon as the delivery comes in this afternoon, we will post what has come in fresh, okay. Right now, there are some stocky green bell pepper plants, with fruit and flowers on them, that are on sale for .99!

That's right! They would be a great plant to pick up for a budding child gardener, for 99 cents! Someone was in the other day looking for some Lavender and we have some Lavender, okay. Peppermint, Spearmint, Chocolate Mint, Orange Mint-they are all here and ready to grace a cuppa tea or even just a sprig in your glass of water makes a big difference. You all come on in because there will be lots to see, and we really hope to see you Saturday, okay.

Good morning from The Front Yard and Giddy the Goose in a Witch outfit! We sure do hope that we get some more of this rain that seems to be all around us.

Can you say Rosemary? We can say Rosemary because we finally found some and we now have 2 different types of Rosemary on the tables:

-Arp Rosemary is an evergreen shrub and is one of the most fragrant of all herbs! Its leaves are popular for seasoning meats, stews, and sauces and it does best in light, well-drained soil.

-Prostratus Rosemary is a creeping plant that features flavorful leaves and aromatic blue flowers. Both plants will do best in full sun, their leaves are popular for seasoning meats/sauces, and they love well-drained soil.

The delivery truck brought in some White Alyssum and some Stock plants that really love cooler temps. Also brought in were some vegetables that include Kale, Collard Greens, Bright Lights Swiss Chard and Cauliflower-most are in 6-packs.

A little bit here and a little bit there, most folks are happy to have something to nurture and watch grow, despite the heat. If you're itching to get started on your fall vegetable garden, your front porch and flower garden, come on into The Front Yard and take a look at the selection on the tables!

Well, the first "ber" month of this year has come and will soon be gone, so we figured it was time to get our fall-look on at The Front Yard. Yep, we dug out some decorations, we decided we needed some new ones, and we started decorating the Plant Nursery for Fall & Halloween.

What a day of good news! Giddy the Goose has arrived! The outfits came in a few hours later and you have got to get you a Giddy Goose to dress up your porch/front yard area. There are outfits for each passing season and reason!

This Giddy is all suited up in rain gear because it looks like more rain might be in our forecast. There was an inch of rain in our rain gauge this morning. It's been emptied and we are ready to tonight's showers. Are you ready?
