This project was outside my general range of work, but when the neighbor comes to you with materials and an idea you can’t say no! The router work was the crux of the project, a thousand pardons for neglecting to film it 🙏

Routing the tiered depths for the hills became a fun activity problem solving. I ended up hand drawing on 1/4” ply, cutting out on the bandsaw and sanding to final shape. Starting on the top with the deepest I worked my way in repeating the process to route each tier of hills. Woodworker friends, how would you have done this?

Finished several cribbage boards just in time for tomorrow, Sunday 4/26. The sun will be out and a bunch of talented artists will be on the patio of in Brunswick, Maine ☀️

It’s been years since I’ve made these cribbage boards, so many holes! Unless they’re snatched up quick, they’ll be in stock at each of the pop-ups I attend this year.

OK, I know some of you woodworker police noticed I wasn’t wearing safety glasses for a couple of those router passes! I promise to do better next time ;)

These projects are why I love custom work. Not to make a cutting board, but to do something I haven’t done before. The process of figuring out how to do something with what you have on hand. Hard to believe I hadn’t put a juice groove into a board yet and, of course, my first time would be multiple! The jig I made is adjustable, so now I’m capable in most any size.

This board is made from Hard Maple, Cherry and Lyptus and is 20”x 14”x 2”. Nice to meet the folks last summer, I’m loving this wax!

Michelle had some specific requests for a coffee table and I was more than happy to have surpassed expectations. Our relationship with this project started before my move to Durham and I was so excited to finally see this piece in her home. She was thrilled, “a piece of art” she stated… I couldn’t be more happy.

WHAT - how has it been 10 years already? So grateful for this community and all the support and friendships it’s brought. A huge thank you to all who have trusted S.E. Hall Furniture to build an heirloom piece for their home or office or bought a smaller piece in my shop or at a market. To another decade of growth and adventure!

Alright, these bud vases won’t finish themselves ✌️
