From trash to treasure. This curbside credenza from early twentieth century is exactly what I need for my small living room. The neoclassical side board from the Firenze collection by Drexel Furniture features copper caps on the feet, a multitude of inlays and a functional hidden drawer. There are multiple woods in use. From my research likely walnut and fruitwood from North Carolina.

If you want to get stared with DIY projects of your own, now is a great time to get some tools! It is tempting to get the best, but if you will only be working with them occasionally, I highly recommend something like this. Craftsman is a great middle of the road brand and these sets will get you started. Several of my more often used tools are this red brand and I have no complaints.

This guy is joining our family on Thursday. Bear was with a family for 8 months and during that time the husband wouldn't allow him to leave his crate, like ever, and was fed only table scraps. Once surrendered back to the rescue, he could barely walk and had gained more than ten pounds. We think he witnessed and probably got in the middle of domestic violence. We want to give him a safe, comfortable space, so we're building him a new wood crate that will hopefully not feel the same as a wire cage. We're going to try to use only materials we have: some sleigh bed parts, a solid wood door, and whatever else. Stay tuned!

A few weeks ago, we unexpectedly lost both of our dogs. Hammy and Jack were both rescues who cared for and loved us as much as we did them. Some scrap wood is just not useful... until you build a new firepit bench and burn your feelings! This latest build is not very pretty but it is super functional (and currently directly in the direction of the breeze🤦‍♀️)
