Candle Bar DSM has the opportunity to partner with Variety – the Children’s Charity for a special fundraiser.
Growing up, my grandpa helped raise us. After a car accident left him paralyzed from the waist down, accessibility was part of our everyday life.
We helped him transfer in and out of bed using a transfer board and later a Hoyer lift. We learned how to operate the lift on our handicap van, upgrade equipment as technology improved, and navigate everyday challenges.
My little sister was also born with her legs out of her hip sockets and underwent multiple surgeries throughout her childhood on her hips and legs. During her recoveries, she relied on many of these same types of equipment. Because of the way I grew up, Variety’s mission truly hits home for me.
So when I learned more about Variety and the work they do providing mobility equipment, adaptive transportation, medical support and opportunities for Iowa kids - it hit home. 🤍
On Tuesday, September 22, we’re hosting a special fundraiser at Candle Bar DSM.
Your $10 ticket includes a reserved seat, plus light refreshments while you create a candle that will benefit the Variety Telethon fundraiser.
Can’t make it? You can still be part of it. 🤍 We’ll also be running the fundraiser online two weeks after so you can purchase a candle from home and help support Variety’s mission.
For me, this feels like such a full-circle moment. I think about my grandpa, my sister, and all of the families who know firsthand how life-changing the right resources can be. I’m so proud that we get to be a small part of it! 🥹
