Leading to the children’s floor, colour takes a playful turn — creating a lively transition into the rooms beyond.

Warm oak and slender blackened steel ground the staircase, with a couple of feline residents making a cameo.

Project Browning: Part X | The In-Between

Some of the most considered moments in a home happen between rooms.

At Browning, the second-floor spaces unfold gradually—through thresholds, framed views and quiet transitions.

Here, a black steel-and-glass door offers a glimpse into the office beyond, while the herringbone floor and softly painted cabinetry carry the language of the adjoining spaces through the hall.

A small passage, but an important one.

Project Browning: Part IX I The Primary Ensuite - Materiality

Materiality becomes the ornament.

Zellige tile brings depth and variation to the shower, framed by a sculptural travertine surround and paired with unlacquered brass fittings. Each material was chosen for its tactile quality, natural variation, and ability to develop character over time.

Drawing on European traditions of craftsmanship and material richness, these details reinterpret historical references through a contemporary lens — introducing a sense of permanence and patina while remaining quietly modern.

Project Browning: Part IX | The Primary Ensuite

Designed as an extension of the primary bedroom, the primary ensuite draws inspiration from European interiors, unfolding as a sequence of interconnected spaces rather than a single room. A curved archway guides the transition from the double vanity to the bathing area beyond, creating moments of discovery as the space is gradually revealed.

Grounded by patterned tile floors, warm oak millwork, and natural stone, the layered material palette balances timeless architectural references with a contemporary sensibility, resulting in a space that feels both enduring and deeply personal.

Project Browning: Part VIII I The Primary Bedroom

Continuing upstairs into the more private spaces of the home, the primary suite offers a quieter expression of the home’s language of craftsmanship, materiality and thoughtful detail.

Designed as a retreat, the space balances warmth and restraint through layered textures, bespoke elements and carefully considered moments of function. The custom-designed upholstered headboard was conceived as an architectural element in its own right, with aged brass switch plates recessed into the upholstery and reading lights positioned just above—allowing even the smallest details to become part of the composition.

Opposite the bed, tailored millwork transforms the integrated closet into an architectural feature, creating a seamless balance between beauty and everyday living.

Quietly considered rather than overtly decorative, the suite reflects the larger approach throughout the home—where thoughtful design turns everyday spaces into experiences.

Project Browning: Part VII | The Water Closet

A playful interpretation of the traditional water closet, this powder room transforms the literal into the unexpected—an immersive jewel box inspired by the movement, texture and quiet beauty of water.

Metallic gold walls, adorned with colourful koi, create a richly layered backdrop for a custom-designed marble vanity and sink. A bespoke pebble mirror by K A T I E K O H L S , created specifically for the space, introduces an organic, sculptural element that echoes the natural forms of water, adding another layer of colour, texture and reflection.

Balancing refinement with playfulness, the room offers an unexpected moment of discovery within the home—where craftsmanship, imagination and a touch of wit transform even the smallest spaces into experiences.

Project Browning | Part VI: The Mudroom

In the mudroom, every detail was an opportunity to elevate the everyday — from custom tilework and tailored storage to considered colour and craftsmanship.

A custom tiled floor pattern creates the foundation of the room, its geometric rhythm flowing seamlessly into the adjoining powder room. Reinterpreted from the decorative floors found throughout historic homes, the pattern brings a sense of movement and artistry to this hardworking space.

The pantry wall introduces curved Shaker detailing, adding softness and character to the built-in storage. A delicate sage green finish brings a sense of calm and freshness to the room, its subtle natural tones complementing the warmth of the materials and the rhythm of the tiled floor.

A space designed to prove that even the most functional rooms deserve beauty, intention and a strong sense of place.
