I want to make a light cotton throw for the summer like my grandmother's except I don't dye cotton because I'm a color control freak & I want to see exactly what color I'm dyeing, when I'm dyeing it. I want to be able to fine tune it, not guess what it's going to look like after I rinse & rinse & rinse. No math, no formulas. Soo... I'll use silk!
Our Raw Silk looks and feels very much like cotton. We're switching to 4 oz skeins, 450 yd & keeping price low at $25.

NOW.. the pattern. Any recommendations? Needle size flexible, around size 5-6 US

Building the greens back up! This is going to take a while - so many shades, so many different fibers. 😊

It's ok, worst-case scenario - I frog and start again. I love the colors and I'm not in any hurry.

Debating which Tinkerbelle to run along with the variegated SW Merino. The Cornflower is less contrast to most of the variegated blank but the Mermaid Lagoon would lighten it up. At least I've narrowed it down to two choices. Opinions?

I've been dyeing pinks, some for orders & some because it's a comfort color. Next, I was planning to dye greens, so many. I've needed to fill out our greens for quite a while. I like to start with the blue greens and quite often don't get to the other green shades before a show.
Right now we've decided to skip spring shows bc Tess has moved and there's just too much going on to commute back & forth from Florida for 1 day shows. So... I'm sorry that we won't be going to MD, going to visit Tess this week & we will be able to work together to continue filling out our new website, www.tessyarns.com

We can begin to add patterns, more colors, etc.
And when I get back, I will have plenty of time to get ready for summer visitors & fall shows.

Edit: we won't be in Frederick after all. We wanted to but it's just too much driving for a 1 day show with Tess&Rich in FL and me and the yarn in Maine!!
Please, come see us in our ancient mill by the river - less than 10 minutes from Portland Airport-everything we take to shows and more! Lace wt to Bulky in many different fiber blends and kits +samples galore!! 😊

Back to work! Time to get ready for spring show in Frederick.

Tinkerbelle, Kid Mohair Lace 495 yd/50g $25
This yarn has a 30% nylon content which has allowed me to knit with mohair again! Over the years I had developed a sensitivity to mohair but the kid mohair /nylon combination is allowing me to add a subtle aura in my projects again + play with extra color 😊

I know, I know. For four decades I've been told that I have "too many colors ". Back in the 80s, with Tess in my lap, a business consultant told me that I should limit myself to 10 colors bc it's more commercially viable. I've watched as former customers have started their own companies, taught classes, written books. I'm still dyeing too many colors but at least now you can use a link to Pantone color charts and choose the colors you want and/or "see" the colors that we have in stock.
And that business consultant? We've laughed about it - we're both glad that I followed a different path.
