Stop trying to match your wood tones...

You are not going to win that fight. Floors and cabinetry come from different species, different mills, different finishes. Chasing an exact match is how you end up with a room that feels slightly off and you cannot say why.

Complement instead. Different tones, same temperature family.

The primary suite has quietly become the most requested room in the house.

Not the kitchen. Not the great room. The one space that belongs only to the two people who live there.

Here is what we keep specifying this year.

Double vanities. Two sinks, two mirrors, two sets of sconces, and enough counter between them that nobody is negotiating for space at seven in the morning.

Ensuite coffee and tea stations. A small built in with a machine, a fridge drawer, and a shelf for the everyday mugs. The first twenty minutes of the day never leave the room.

Separate water closets. Two private doors flanking the shower. It sounds excessive until you live with it, and then it is the feature clients tell their friends about.

None of this is about excess. It is about designing for how two people actually move through a morning.
