For this Brooklyn residence, we created a modern, comfortable interior that embraces its incredible urban setting. Soaring windows and dramatic city views set the stage, while warm woods, rich blues, layered textures, and contemporary furnishings soften the architecture and make the home feel inviting and livable.

And when it’s time to step outside? The rooftop becomes an extension of the home—with space to dine, lounge, entertain, and take in that unmistakable NYC skyline.

Because as much as we love a summer by the water, summer in the city has a style all its own.

Ever wondered why it's called "herringbone"?

Here's a fun design fact that surprises almost everyone.

The iconic herringbone pattern gets its name from the distinctive skeleton of a herring fish. If you compare the fish's bones to the pattern, the resemblance is unmistakable!

One of the most common design mistakes? Choosing a rug that's too small.

A rug should do more than add color or texture—it should anchor the entire room.

When a rug is undersized, furniture appears to "float," making the space feel disconnected. The right-size rug instantly creates a room that feels intentional, welcoming, and professionally designed.

✨ A few designer guidelines:

✔ Living Room: At a minimum, the front legs of all seating should rest on the rug. Even better? All furniture legs fit comfortably on the rug when the room allows.

✔ Dining Room: Your rug should extend at least 24 inches beyond the table on every side so chairs stay on the rug—even when they're pulled out.

✔ Bedroom: Choose a rug that extends 18–24 inches beyond the sides and foot of the bed to create a soft landing when you get up each morning.

One of our favorite designer sayings is:
"When in doubt... go bigger."

A larger rug almost always makes a room feel more luxurious, balanced, and thoughtfully designed.

It's one of those details people don't always notice—but they absolutely feel.
