Gala Magriñá Design We merge the cool and beautiful with the holistic and mindful to create modern, energetically balanced, healthy spaces that transform people’s lives.

Raised in New York City and Barcelona, Gala Magriñá is a multidisciplinary, multicultural force to be reckoned with. While her interest in design and interiors can be traced all the way back to her Hawaiian themed childhood bedroom, her career was ultimately shaped by her education as an NYU film student, her role as one of Diesel USA’s first employees, and as the founder of M Crown Productions, an award-winning production design agency that focused on events, pop-ups, exhibition and retail displays. Building on this success, in 2017, Gala launched Gala Magriñá Design, a commercial interior design agency based in New York City with worldwide production and installation capabilities. Eventually, an education in holistic design and mindful practices solidified the move from events and temporary spaces to interior design and refined the focus of the agency.

“In terms of my process, I am guided by our clients’ desires and needs, the story we want to tell, my intuition and the inspiration I have collected from my travels and every day life. Mix in the incredible eye of my team, a collective OCD we all have when it comes to the details, and you have standout interiors delivered on time and on budget.”

Recently, I came across an Instagram post by RUE Editor-in-Chief Kelli Lamb that completely stopped me in my tracks.

It was about a beautiful gathering she held in her new build after tragically losing her home in the Altadena fires. Surrounded by exposed wooden framing and sharing pizza with loved ones, friends and family wrote love notes, blessings and inside jokes directly onto the bare studs before the drywall was installed.

Reading her story immediately struck an emotional chord with me. It reminded me so deeply of a 5,000 year old home blessing ritual (Garbhadhana) I learned during my Vaastu certification, where intentions and blessings are physically sealed into a structure’s foundation before it is finished.

In holistic interior design, we know that a physical space is a living energy body and energy truly flows where attention goes. As Kelli shared with us:

“I wanted to move home and already have memories ‘pre-loaded,’ to already have it infused with good energy.”

Swipe through to explore Kelli’s story and discover simple spatial rituals you can practice in your own space to shift its energy.

It truly is incredible when we pause and take a moment to be intentional. Magical things happen ✨.

Barcelona is where my family and roots are, but I hadn't visited Madrid in over 20 years. So when a small travel window opened up, I booked the ticket for a much needed design and inspo trip.

Here are my top design, food and sourcing finds 👇🏼

🔸Museo Reina Sofía - incredible building and modern art collection as well as restaurant. Make sure to grab lunch there. It does not dissapoint.

🔸Wow concept store (think Dover Street Market style, 3 stories of great pieces including housewares)

🔸 Mercado de San Antón (way less touristy than the bigger one in all the tourist guides) and incredible food. My cousin and I ate at 3 different stands and all were 👌🏼

🔸Brilliant coffee concept CASTO that serves up fresh pastries from the adjacent baking school (you can watch the students bake while having a coffee 👀)

🔸Cocktails NUBEL adjacent to the Reina Sofia museum its like entering the 70s - all red, sexy, incredibly designed lounge and bar with a DJ that plays in the evenings

🔸 If you’re there on a Sunday definitely visit the Rastro Flea Market. For furniture you’ll want to go to Calle Carnero off the main drag and my favorite shop for beautifully curated antiques is LE SECRET [email protected]

🔸 I had the most beautiful experience KOTHAI doing a combo foot/back massage. It's located right in the city center, but you would never know it. The minute you walk in, the space makes hugs you and instantly transports you somewhere else. Highly recommend.

Save this for you next trip to Spain and let me know your favorite MAD spots below 📌

Buying a multi-million dollar property is a HUGE deal, but one of the biggest pitfalls we see high-end buyers fall into is spending everything on the actual real estate itself.

And when you max out your budget on square footage and location, the interior often gets pushed to the back burner. But a home only feels like a sanctuary when the energy, layout and design align with how you ACTUALLY live and who you actually are. Without that even a $5M house can feel cold, unfinished and overwhelming.

I always say that REAL luxury isn’t just having the right address or having a big home, it’s truly about how the space makes you FEEL and how it supports you.

Have you ever seen a gorgeous home on the outside that felt completely cold on the inside?

NEW WORK_ A peek inside the kids’ rooms from our recent Upper East Side project in New York City.

From a wellness design perspective when designing kids rooms we always try to balance fun and colorful elements without making it too bright or stimulating.

For the boy’s room, we chose deep blue tones and sports inspired details like graphic golf ball wall coverings, boxing gloves and a basketball hoop paired with comfortable nooks for reading and studying.

For the girls’ rooms we created a softer, whimsical vibe with cloud pendants overhead, a small activity corner and a climbing wall set against soothing neutrals.

Every detail was designed to easily transition from active daytime play to restful sleep and recovery.

We’ve officially entered the era of the “biohacked home.”

Don’t get me wrong, air filtration, circadian lighting systems and health tracking are amazing tools. But somewhere between the smart panels and the metrics, we started treating our homes like clinical labs and human beings like machines to be optimized.

True wellness design isn’t just about what you can measure. It’s about how a space feels when you cross the threshold. Does it nurture your mind, body, and spirit?

Before you add another gadget to your floor plan, ask yourself 3 basic questions:

#1 How does this space make you feel?
#2 Does it reconnect you to natural light and nature?
#3 Does the layout actually support how you want to live, rest, and connect?

Your home should feel like a sanctuary, not a data center. Let’s please bring the soul back into wellness design 🙏🏼.

Let me know how you feel in the comments 👇🏼

I’m honored to be an ambassador for the 100th Anniversary Edition of What’s New, What’s Next .

This awesome event brings the design industry together for a day of inspiring programming, product launches and celebration here in NYC and always feels like a class reunion of sorts for me ❤️.

It all happens on September 17th at 200 Lex. See you there!

AI can most definitely render an incredible space, but I’m convinced it can’t create one with soul.

Because when you look closer, something is missing. There’s no soul. No history. No HUMANITY.

As humans, we aren’t perfect and the spaces that make us feel the safest, happiest, and most grounded aren’t perfect either. True luxury isn’t neccessarily flawless symmetry, it’s the nuance: the way sunlight hits a textured plaster wall, a comfortable arm chair perfectly positioned by the window to invite a daily ritual of reflection, the slouch of a well-loved linen sofa and the stories behind the art on your walls.

AI can give you a picture perfect image. But it takes a human touch to design a home that truly feels like home and that holds you.

NEW WORK__ 📸’s of one of my favorite rooms from our latest upper east side project- the primary bedroom where we carved out a dedicated WFH nook, aligning custom stone legs with the building’s architecture to create an intentional space to sit back and “THINK BIG.”

Followed be a serene, spa-like bathroom complete with a double shower, custom floating vanity and a private enclosed toilet.

And finally… the bed, giving urban sanctuary with a view ✨
