In a world 🌎 that loves to show you just the highlights and the high points… let’s get real for a minute. Business is business.

Summer in retail always takes a little bit of a hit. August was still a very pleasing month for us, but these are not the numbers I expect to see during what I lovingly call the “BER” months — the B-E-R months. 😂

We’re heading into the fourth quarter, which is typically the biggest season in retail. This is when the books can go way into the black, inventory turns over faster, and the hustle gets really exciting.

But here’s the thing: the businesses that make it through the busy seasons are built during the slow ones. We work when we have some margin preparing for the “BER” months The slower months are when you figure out how to get creative. You figure out where to find your people. You go to the people when they aren’t necessarily coming into your physical space.

And this is just one piece of my business.

These numbers are strictly from my physical vintage booth — a 9’ x 17’ downstairs booth in downtown Wichita Falls, Texas. I’ve been in the downstairs booth for over a year, and in the building for a year and nine months.

We use the Quail vendor app, which makes tracking this kind of information so much easier. And thankfully, my business has several other avenues as well: my full website and online collection, Instagram Lives, Etsy, Facebook, and our physical space. So today, I’m just pulling back the curtain on what August looked like in my booth.

I LOVE 💕 data. I love seeing what sells, what doesn’t, what categories are moving, and what I can learn from the numbers.

There’s a first time for everything. 🚌✨

On August 25th, we took our very first private Thrift Bus Tour—a bus rented exclusively for one group of ladies. This particular group was an office crew, and what a fun day it was!

Private tours are available for friend groups, church groups, bachelorette parties, office groups, family gatherings—you name it! The sky is the limit. We also offer our public tours, but if you have a group that wants to make a day of it, let’s get you on the books!

I’ll never forget this particular tour because while we were out thrifting, we got the heartbreaking news of Dolly’s passing. Our phones were blowing up as we were getting on the bus, and I couldn’t help but think about something Dolly always said:

“Don’t get so busy making a living that you forget to make a life.”

And there we were. A bus full of women stepping away from the office, visiting local shops, laughing, shopping, building friendships, and simply living our lives. ❤️

What a light Dolly was to the world. She will be deeply missed, and I’ll forever think of this first private tour when I think of this quote .

And now… onto the next adventure! 🎄🚌
