Hi all- it’s Abby here, and I’m about to get real with you.
About 3 years ago I started Even the Lilees. I was eager, optimistic and excited to begin the journey of developing my business as an interior designer. But then tragedy, heartache, and lots of rebuilding happened. I’ve spent the last two plus years finding who I am again, processing what my true passions and dreams are and slowly regaining life back into my heart.
Since my last post in the beginning of 2024, I got pregnant and lost my first baby, went through months of grief counseling, lost friendships, moved into my dream home, got pregnant with my second child who I gave birth to last November-a beautiful baby girl who is my whole world, and that’s just a summery… but lots of UPS AND DOWNS to say the least. I can say this- the Lord has redeemed everything, he has made eden’s out of wastelands in my life, and I owe everything to him. My heart is full of praise and gratitude for all that he has brought me though.
Upon my journey of recovery from such pain- I visited an art museum one weekend, this work of art stopped me in my tracks. Something about it felt so beautiful yet so tragic. I was drawn to it by the mixture of color and texture, it felt like it somehow represented the pain, loss, beauty and growth that my life had been over that past year. I felt seen. As time has gone on, I’ve slowly become more open again to the idea of wanting to create beauty and help others with the gifts that I’ve been given. BUT I couldn’t just simply post a lighthearted “hey everyone I’m back” post because that’s not who I am, I strive for authenticity, so why would I try to pretend to be something I’m not? I value realness in everything I do- including my work, so I had to share my story with you all.
I’m holding this next chapter of my journey of interior design with a very loose grip and fully surrendered to what God has for me in it, but I hope to be seeing all your beautiful faces a bit more.
