Today is the day! PicNut Studios announces its latest project!! Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! The project concept started last year actually. It was simply to do a "refresh" of the bathroom. Replace the floor and a new toilet, slap a coat of paint and Wa-La! Things quickly spiraled as every part of this project was one curve ball after another. The scope changed from slapping some lipstick on a pig to a complete gut job and rebuilding from the ground up. Naturally, plumbing had to be moved, other plumbing replaced due to cracks, etc. The floor had several layerings, starting with tar paper, 1 1/2" mortar bed, tile, felt and then wood pergo flooring. Talk about a step up into the bathroom.
Next came electrical, adding some ceiling lights, removing the ship light inside the shower (who ever thought that was a good idea?). Then to discover behind the shower wall were lots of junction boxes of twisted and taped together wires. Sounds like a accident waiting to happen. Entire bathroom was rewired and put on it's own breaker to code.
Next came the sheetrock, we weren't really feeling it so hired that portion out. Really bad idea, there was more mud on the wall than the frosting on a cheap sheet-cake from Walmart! It continued to get worse as the days went along, like using 8 screws on a 4 x 8' piece of drywall! Needless to say he was fired faster than a toupee blowing off in a hurricane. Found another contractor to come clean up his mess and the rest we did ourselves.
