Our neighbors a few doors down, Reverie Coffee Roasters, is having an artist spotlight on June 5 from 4-6p as part of First Friday. Go visit them, grab a refreshing beverage and come then a few steps down fernaCHer to view the artist we’ll be featuring from 5-8p. Plenty of parking in the back!!
We're back next month with a new artist spotlight for First Fridays! We hope to see you all on Friday June 5th to check out Nox's work and support some local art! Originals and prints will be available for purchase.
Nox White, also known as NymphArtistCreations , is a q***r artist from the Wichita area. Their artwork expresses and deals with the intersectional complexities woven into their own personal life, as well as the complicated nature of life more broadly. Mental illness, body issues, oppression, bigotry, trauma, q***r and trans identity, poverty, and so much more are all alchemized into something tangible and beautiful for you to view, ponder, and feel seen in (with some whimsy thrown in too of course).
Nox works with any supplies they can get their hands on to create their paintings. Some of their favorites are bingo daubers, chalk crayons, and makeup. Art is play, and art being accessible to everyone is a huge passion point that drives their work. They upcycle, reuse, and source secondhand materials to make their works; keeping it cheap and accessible for most.
Originally from Wyoming, Nox has had a background in art all his life and loves to connect with nature and to other individuals through their work. This First Friday, he hopes to spark some thought in the viewer, and he hopes that they may interact with his interactive statue at the exhibit.
