Most homes and apartments don’t feel “off” because there’s a need for a full renovation…they feel off because the ~details~ were never considered in the first place!! 👀

💡 Lighting🪾Textures🕰️ Mixing of old + new🖼️Styling🚪Flow

A cohesive, personal and warm home is built from 100 small decisions most people overlook when designing or decorating their space.

So…here are 10 truths I’d tell you if I wasn’t afraid to hurt your feelings 😅👇

1. Your space feels flat because everything is braaaaand spanking new (and probably from the same store).
2. You don’t have a small space problem…you have a layout issue.
3. Pushing every single piece of furniture against the wall is not “making the room bigger.”
4. You don’t need more generic random decor from HomeGoods or TikTok…you need more YOU injected into your space. TIP: I should be able to tell who lives there without seeing a single photo of them 😉
5. If you’re not mixing old + new pieces and adding something living into the space (plants, patina, aged hardware, texture, etc.) it will never feel layered or alive.
6. Tiny rugs floating in the middle of the room make everything look cheaper instantly.
7. The big light is ruining your ambience…use layered lighting!
8. Your curtains are probably hung too low and too skinny.
9. Your artwork is probably too small (and maybe too safe too…have some fun!!).
10. Cool-toned lighting makes everything feel sterile and like a hospital. Anything over 3500K starts giving office energy REAL fast.

You didn’t move into a new apartment just to stare at a mattress on the floor and 14 open browser tabs 😅

Stop spending your weekends trying to figure out what size sofa to buy… only to end up with something that looks nothing like the photo.

Good design isn’t about buying more.
It’s about buying right the first time.

What you are not doing anymore:

❌ Guessing which brands are actually good quality
❌ Endless scrolling and second guessing every decision
❌ Returning furniture because it doesn’t work in your space

What we ARE doing instead:

✅ Making a simple plan before spending any money
✅ Choosing pieces that fit your space and your life
✅ Feeling confident when you click “checkout”
✅Hosting without feeling embarassed about your space

And I can do all of this for you in less than 5 days.

If you’re furnishing an apartment and feel overwhelmed, comment PLAN and I’ll get you started. 🪞✨

You don’t need a bigger budget, you just need better direction…and I’ve got you. 😘

There’s a big difference between “that looks cute online” and “this is high quality, the right scale, and will actually work in your space.”

No hate to Chat… but you still need an expert to make sure you are investing in the right pieces, the first time.

Your living room should feel warm and welcoming… and most spaces are so close, they just need a little guidance 😉 Here’s 6 reasons why your living room doesn’t feel inviting:

1️⃣ Your windows are bare.
Not having drapery panels over your blinds makes your living room feel cold and flat. Add drapery or curtain panels to add softness and layers, instantly making a space feel cozier.

2️⃣ You only use the fan light.
Overhead lighting alone kills warmth. Layer table lamps, floor lamps, and accent lighting to create ambiance. (Fan light kits are my pet peeve.)

3️⃣ Your scale is off.
The most common mistake I see is rugs and artwork that are too small. When in doubt, always go bigger.

4️⃣ Everything is pushed against the walls.
Floating your furniture helps define the space and encourages conversation. Leave clear, intentional walkways (typically 36”) to create a seamless flow.

5️⃣ There’s no focal point.
Every living room needs a visual anchor…a fireplace, beautiful view or original artwork…Yes, the TV can work 🥴

6️⃣ No plants or greenery.
Incorporating greenery instantly adds life, warmth, and color. For proper scale, aim for plants 18”–24” below the ceiling (for 8–10’ ceilings), accounting for planter height.

The biggest mistake I see with my clients is that they start shopping for furniture before thinking about how their room functions.

Before you buy a sofa, chair, dining table (or literally anything!! … please please PLEASE 🙏 pause and think about how you actually use the space.

Good design isn’t just about how your space looks, it’s about how a space works and functions for your real, everyday life.

Before you start shopping for furniture ask yourself:
✅Who actually lives in/uses this space (adults, kids, furbabies, roommates)

✅What lifestyle factors should your furniture support? (Kids climbing, pets lounging, red wine spills, etc.)

✅How are you really using the space day to day? (Be realistic here!)

✅Do you need flexibility in your space or something more fixed? (For example like an office space in your living room)

✅Is this space more for hosting and entertaining or for everyday living/relaxing?

✅How many people do you realistically want to seat, gather, or live in this room?

✅What currently annoys you about this space? (not enough seating, no storage, etc.)

✅What do you need this room to do that it’s not doing now?
Function should always lead, so once that’s clear, the furniture and design choices become easier, more intentional, and way less overwhelming. 😉

A space that is beautiful is great, but a space that actually works for your life AND is beautiful is even better!! 🥰

If you’re feeling stuck or don’t know where to start, this is exactly how I approach design with my clients.
