It's Pollinator Week, and all week long we'll be celebrating the incredible creatures that keep our gardens growing. ๐Ÿ๐Ÿฆ‹

But what exactly is a pollinator? Simply put, it's anything that helps move pollen from one flower to another, allowing plants to produce seeds and fruit. While bees often get the spotlight, flies, beetles, butterflies, moths, bats, hummingbirds, and even the wind all play a role.

By planting flowers and creating welcoming garden spaces, we can help support these important visitors and the ecosystems that depend on them. Stay tuned as we highlight some of our favorite pollinators throughout the week!

Not all houseplants play nice... some prefer their meals with wings. ๐Ÿชฐ๐ŸŒฟ

Meet three fascinating carnivorous plants:

๐Ÿชค Venus Flytraps snap shut when an unsuspecting insect lands on their leaves.
โœจ Sundews use sticky droplets to trap their prey.
๐ŸŒฑ Pitcher Plants lure bugs inside with sweet scents, then tiny hairs keep them from escaping.

These bug-eating beauties are native to parts of the U.S. and are surprisingly easy to grow! Give them bright light, keep them sitting in rainwater or distilled water, and skip the fertilizer. They get all the nutrients they need naturally.

Have you ever grown a carnivorous plant? ๐Ÿ‘€

Hydrangea season is here and they are putting on a show. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’—

One of the best parts about hydrangeas is watching their colors shift and change through the season, especially depending on your soil. From soft blues to vibrant pinks, every plant has its own personality in the garden.

Right now, 2 and 3 gallon hydrangeas are on sale through June 24th, so it is a great time to plant, refresh a space, or add a few summer showstoppers.

Want to learn more about the different varieties we carry? Head over to our YouTube channel (https://youtu.be/mxwRh9ZPZ6g?si=f_jwxUQYewCzhJ1f) to watch Peter walk through all the hydrangeas you will find in our stores.

Rose of Sharon, also known as Hardy Hibiscus, brings big summer color from June through September. ๐ŸŒบ

These easy-care shrubs produce large, tropical-style blooms in white, pink, lavender, purple, and blue, often with striking contrasting centers. Flowers may be single or double depending on the variety.

They grow as a bush or small tree, reaching 6 to 8 feet over time and are best in full sun but will also tolerate some afternoon shade.

June is Pollinator Month! ๐Ÿ๐ŸŒธ

Pollinators help our flowers, fruits, and vegetables thrive, and perennials are one of the best ways to support them season after season.

Some pollinator favorites:
๐ŸŒฟ Bee Balm
๐ŸŒฟ Echinacea
๐ŸŒฟ Lavender
๐ŸŒฟ Catmint

Want to create a pollinator-friendly garden? Plant in groups, choose blooms that flower from spring through fall, add a shallow water source with rocks, and skip insecticides whenever possible.

A few pollinator-friendly plants can make a big difference for your garden for all pollinators.
