Light,Sawdust & Coffee

Light,Sawdust & Coffee Woodworking I'm just a guy that loves to make wood come alive in the 'corner of garage' workshop. Just making sawdust and beautiful projects is enough for me!

I turn out things that we need around the house or things that people ask me to do. I am by no means a professional but I think I am better than average in my abilities. I've been at it for quite a while, with the first project that I remember being an Adirondack chair that I built from plans in my dad's workshop. I have remodeled a couple homes over the years, with the 1882 Victorian in Forestvil

le, NY being the most extensive. There I did a total remodel on the kitchen, including a new cabinet and large island. My wife and I built a large 2 1/2 car garage with a 16 x 32 foot woodshop in the back. Now, down in Virginia, I am building up a small mobile shop in the corner of the garage. Yeah, sometimes I take over a bit more room than my wife would like, but it's just temporary. I am still employed full time and just putter around on nights and weekends so I can't really tackle really big projects, but that's ok.

Someone mentioned to me that I haven’t posted in a while. Well, the garage is a bit nippy to work in plus I can’t paint when it’s 45° in there. So, I jumped back to another type of projects that I used to do.
Metal Earth has tons of different models that you can build and this one is the Apollo 11 astronaut.
The kits come on flat metal sheets with instruction to put it together. Each piece is numbered and attach to each other with little tabs and slots. Insert the tab and either twist it or fold it over. As you can see, some of the pieces are very small so I have to take off my glasses or use a magnifier to see how they go together.
It’s a fun thing to put together and this one took a couple days working on and off.
One of these days I’ll have to get out all of my models and post them here! Who would like to see them?

Since my wife loves to put together Legos and she says she’s running out of space to store them, I put up some shelves for her. And, of course I couldn’t put up plain old shelves to store Legos, I made an appropriate edging for them!

I'll be posting a bit later my secret project I made for my wife while she was kidnapped.

After remodel at the store, my little Coffee Bar sign looked overwhelmed in the new Breakroom. So, I had to make a new one. Using leftover scrap Kydex as a backer and leftover reclaimed lumber for the bullseye, their new sign looks much better in the space!
