Pocosin Mini Christmas Wonderland Inc. update:

We’ve officially grown so much over the years that we now needed a THIRD storage barn just to hold everything. 😳🎄

What started with a few decorations has somehow turned into:
✨ thousands of lights
✨ over 100 inflatables
✨ endless extension cords
✨ and enough Christmas totes to lose your sanity in

And now… we’re out in the woods building yet another storage barn while peeling protective plastic off metal panels one tiny piece at a time. 😂

Nothing says “holiday spirit” like standing in nice spring weather fighting sheet metal and wondering why the plastic won’t come off in one piece.

At this point, we may add a new attraction this season:
🎅🏻 “Peel-A-Panel with Santa”
Free participation. No experience required. Therapy afterwards not included.

But seriously — seeing how much this display has grown since 2020 is incredible, and it wouldn’t be possible without all of your support year after year. ❤️

Big things are coming for Season 6! 🎄✨

🚒🔥 INTERNATIONAL FIREFIGHTERS DAY 🔥🚒

Today, we proudly recognize the heart behind Pocosin Mini Christmas Wonderland—a volunteer firefighter serving with Perrytown Volunteer Fire Department – Station 53.

What many people don’t see is the same dedication that goes into both…
Serving the community on emergency calls, and then turning around to create something that brings joy, smiles, and memories for thousands each Christmas season.

It’s more than lights… it’s about service, commitment, and giving back—on and off duty.

❤️ Today we say THANK YOU to all firefighters everywhere, and especially to the one who makes this display possible while serving our community when it matters most.

🚨 We rush in when others run out… and still find ways to bring light to others. 🚨

🚨❤️ National Volunteer Week ❤️🚨

This week, we recognize the people who show up—not for a paycheck, not for recognition—but because they care about their community.

From volunteer firefighters and EMS, to those organizing and managing community events, running food drives, coordinating outreach programs, and giving their time wherever it’s needed… volunteers are the backbone of small towns like ours.

As a member of the Perrytown Volunteer Fire Department and through my work with Pocosin Mini Christmas Wonderland Inc., I’ve seen firsthand what it means to serve. I’m also proud to personally help organize and manage events in our community—bringing people together, supporting local causes, and creating something meaningful for others to enjoy.

Whether it’s responding to emergency calls, planning events from the ground up, or volunteering behind the scenes… it all takes time, dedication, and heart.

Volunteering isn’t always easy. But it’s always worth it.

To every volunteer out there—thank you for your sacrifice and everything you do to make our communities stronger.

At Pocosin Mini Christmas Wonderland Inc., we proudly support and appreciate the dedicated telecommunicators—our 911 dispatchers—who are the calm voices in moments of chaos. When emergencies happen, they are the first to answer the call, providing guidance, reassurance, and life-saving direction before help even arrives.

Their job is not easy. They hear the fear, the urgency, and sometimes the worst days of people’s lives… yet they continue to serve with strength, compassion, and professionalism every single day.

To our local telecommunicators and those across the country—especially the hardworking team at Bertie 911 Communications—we see you, we appreciate you, and we thank you for everything you do for our community. 💙

🚨 Public Service Announcement (From Someone Who Learned the Hard Way 😅) 🚨

Don’t be like me…
Do NOT wait until spring to take down your Christmas decorations.

Because what starts as “I’ll get to it later” turns into:
🌼 Fighting off a pollen cloud that has you sneezing every 2 seconds
🐜 Getting ambushed by fire ants like it’s their personal holiday revenge
🌿 Untangling lights that are now part of the local ecosystem

Next thing you know, your Christmas lights have been up so long… they’ve blended in with the spring décor 🤦‍♂️

🎄➡️🌸 Pro Tip: Take them down in January… your sinuses (and ankles) will thank you later.

Today we celebrate the greatest gift of all — the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Easter reminds us that through Him there is hope, love, forgiveness, and new life.

Just like the light of Christmas reminds us of His birth, Easter reminds us of the power of the empty tomb and the promise of salvation.

As we celebrate this special day, we pray that your home is filled with peace, joy, and the blessings of the risen Savior.

🎄 Cleanup Reality Check at Pocosin Mini Christmas Wonderland Inc. 🎄

The hardest part of tearing down the Christmas display isn’t the lights…
It’s finding ALL. THE. CORDS. 😅

They’re buried under leaves, grass, pine straw, and pure Christmas magic at this point. If we miss a few, I guess the lawnmower will help us finish the job later 🚜💥

Cleanup may not be glamorous, but it’s all part of getting ready to do it even BIGGER next season! 💪✨
