• R O S E S • P R U N E D •

Many of our roses are on their 3rd or 4th years, which means they are finally matured and established! (FINALLY!). I only have have 2 out of the 21 bushes at our home that look like they had a tough winter and may not come back. Only time will tell and our first flush came in early June last year, so here hoping for a beautiful June!!

One of the less glamorous job but equally as important is cleaning and maintaining the farm tools. Most importantly my 2 pruners.

Admittedly I had been looking everywhere for my felcos and had not been able to find them. I had resigned to buying another pair when my parents happened to be out walking the farm and collecting garbage that had blown in over the winter and happened to see them under a bit of plastic (Nooo). They must’ve fallen off the cart at the end of the season and were rusted and dull, unusable for the season.

BUT here is why I loves these babies: A little bit of steel wool, elbow grease, some new parts and oil, and they are brand new and ready for the season! And my roses are finally pruned!

Spent time enjoying the sun today with the fluff butts! Mixed in lots of “natural” fertilizer from the ladies in our beds and then washed eggs to store in the fridge. Working through correcting and amending the soil in natural ways in both our home and farm gardens is a top priority this season. Making our own compost is just the first step ❤️

On another note, I think I need some chocolate and olive colored eggs, don’t you? 🤣🐓🥚

Loving so much about the possibilities of spring this year

🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷

For the first time the little hands are excited to help (and they are actually a help 😂)

6 trays of ranunculus and 1.5 trays of anemones all soaked and pre-sprouting, scheduled to go out in a few weeks.

AND all 3 of the beds in our home garden preped. Farm prep starts next week!!

Well look who finally showed up!

These are the champagne bubbles poppies that I thought had overwintered where the mysterious oriental poppies showed up. This season has me like 🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ on so many levels

1. The Roses have started to bloom ❤️ Pictured here are Wi******er Cathedral (white but every once in awhile I get one with a pink stripe), Carding Mill (Coral), Wollerton Old Hall (cream), Poets Wife (yellow)

2. Subscriptions will be starting next week (YAY!!) so watch your mailboxes for updates and details on your delivery day

3. Due to several hold ups, our volunteer program set to start this spring will not be starting until mid-summer. So stay tuned my amazing flower friends!
