I try to find inexpensive solutions in my designs...for my own home and for clients'. My husband's honey-do list is a mile long and the project of tearing up these 1980s tiles in a mid-1800s cape and restoring the floors (assuming they are restorable) below them ranks pretty low on that list (at least for him...I personally think this job should at least be in the top 10). So, I decided to try this paper bag floor technique and I am happy with the outcome, especially with the jute rug, thresholds and other decor that pulls it all together (FYI, the beautiful chickadee paintings were done by Ramone Hanley-Warren of Edgecomb Maine) I posted the unfinished job before and at least one person thinks it was hideous and said so ...to each their own...I am very happy with the outcome. This 4 x 6 space is much warmer and ultimately, those ugly tiles can come up if it doesn't last or I get tired of it...and it certainly doesn't affect the value of the house in a negative way. No harm no foul since I essentially had all the tools to do this job in my home already (bags, glue, stain, poly).
I love to reuse, recyle and in some areas "recreate"...always trying to make your decision to hire me an inexpensive one. If you'd like your own "re" veal, message me to get the process started.
