The insulation behind your walls does more than keep your home comfortable—it plays a major role in air quality and moisture control.

🏡 Carlos recently spoke with Chris Curry from All Florida Insulation about the difference between fiberglass and spray foam insulation.

Here's the key takeaway:

✔️ Fiberglass can leave small gaps and areas where air moves through the wall assembly.

✔️ Spray foam expands to fill the cavity and helps air seal the home.

✔️ Less air movement means less Florida humidity entering your home.

✔️ Better moisture control can contribute to a healthier indoor environment.

When building a custom home, every detail matters—even the ones you'll never see.

Take a look at the full conversation and discover why insulation is such an important part of building a high-performance home.

Some homes are worth slowing down for.

This 1930s house in Rose Isle is one of them. We just broke ground on a full restoration, and honestly, the whole team has been looking forward to this one.

There's a different feeling that comes with restoring a home that has been part of a Winter Park neighborhood for nearly a century. You can feel the decades in the framing, the windows, the way the rooms were laid out for a different era.

Our work here is two things at once. We're bringing the original details back to life, and we're adding new rooms that will look like they belonged all along. Done right, no one should be able to tell where the old house ends and the new work begins.

We'll be posting updates as it comes together. If you love these old Winter Park homes as much as we do, follow along.

Your home should grow with you, not against you.

In our latest conversation, Carlos sat down with designer Jamie Gernert, from WYC Designs, to talk about something most builders overlook: designing a home for the life you'll be living in 10 or 20 years, not just the one you're living today.

Kids who'll grow up. Parents who may move in. A primary suite you'll appreciate being on the main floor someday. A playroom that becomes a home office, then a dining room.

The best custom homes aren't built for this year. They're built to flex, age gracefully, and still feel right decades from now. That comes down to two things working together: thoughtful design and materials chosen to last.

If you're starting to think about a home that's built around your whole life, not just a snapshot of it, we'd love to talk.

What really makes a custom home custom?
It’s never just square footage—it’s intention.
From hand-selected beams and thoughtful joinery to trim details that feel timeless, every decision is made with purpose. We don’t “add” character after the fact—we build it into the bones of the home. Whether it’s oak, mahogany, heart pine, or cypress, each material is chosen to tell a story and create spaces that feel lived-in, layered, and truly one of a kind.
This level of detail only happens through collaboration. Working alongside , Jamie Gernert brings a designer’s eye for how a home should live—from custom cabinetry and hidden storage to personal touches that reflect a client’s lifestyle and story. No two homes are ever the same, because no two homeowners are.
That’s the difference between building a house…
and crafting a home that’s unmistakably yours.
