Despite the lull in posts, we have been busy. We’ve done several projects since the last update and will be catching up, starting with one of our most recent projects.
opened their location in Adair Park in downtown Woodstock in January. We were tapped to design, build, and install all of the cabinetry for the store, including the table base, point-of-sale counter, glasses bar, and the wine racking. This was the biggest job we’ve ever had, stretching out over five months. The central table is 18 ft long and 4 ft wide, with double-sided base cabinets topped with two slabs of Corian. The glasses bar has a chest of drawers under a wine glass rack, with room for 54 glasses. The point-of-sale counter has storage on the backside and an open-aired refrigerator built into the customer-facing side. Both the counter and chest have a matching Corian top.
The biggest piece is the wine racking. Kory Luebke, the owner, wanted to display the bottles standing up, vs laying down in the traditional X lattice, so the labels could be seen. The bins were designed to hold six bottles per bin. The sloped display boxes have LED lighting integrated into the topside. The two art boxes have a Corian piece under the LED art light. Above the wine coolers on the short wall, the bins were built larger to accommodate magnum-sized bottles. Fully loaded, the racking can hold close to 3,100 bottles of wine. Atop each tower is a storage box used for overflow stock and special order awaiting pickup. The racking is 33 feet long and 12 feet high. A rolling library ladder was included to help get up to the upper reaches of the wall.
The finish is from Renner, an Italian two-part ‘paint’ that has the finish and a catalyzer mixed before spraying. It cures very hard and is perfect for the wine racking. This was the first job I’ve used Renner and have been very impressed with how it turned out and has held up.
